In this role, the Proposals Engineer will develop accurate, competitive, and customer-focused proposals in response to enquiries for packaged plantroom solutions and associated modular off site systems; ensuring alignment with the company's technical capabilities, commercial policies, and strategic objectives.



The Proposals Engineer will act as a key interface between clients, the sales team, and internal departments, contributing to the successful acquisition of new projects and business opportunities.



Key Accountabilities



Proposal Development


Thoroughly review client tender documents, technical specifications, and requirements to fully understand project scope and expectations.

Coordinate with internal teams, including engineering, design, procurement, and production, to gather necessary information for preparing accurate and comprehensive proposals.

Develop detailed technical and commercial proposals, ensuring they align with client needs, project objectives, and company capabilities.

Incorporate engineering calculations, material specifications, and design drawings into proposals to support the technical narrative.

Ensure all proposals are completed within specified deadlines and meet internal quality standards.


Customer Interaction


Act as the primary point of contact for clients during the proposal phase, responding promptly to queries and clarifications.

Conduct pre-bid and post-bid meetings with clients to discuss project requirements, provide technical explanations, and negotiate terms.

Build and nurture strong working relationships with clients to ensure long-term collaboration and repeat business.


Costing and Estimation


Prepare detailed cost estimates, considering materials, labour, manufacturing processes, and third-party supplier costs.

Optimise cost proposals by identifying alternative materials or solutions that provide value while maintaining quality and compliance.




Compliance & Documentation


Ensure proposals meet company and client standards, including health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Maintain accurate records of proposals, revisions, and correspondence.


Collaboration and Reporting


Liaise closely with the sales and business development teams to align proposals with the company's commercial strategies and client priorities.

Provide regular progress updates to the relevant stakeholders, highlighting key milestones, challenges, and solutions.

Participate in cross-departmental meetings to ensure alignment on project objectives and delivery timelines.

Prepare and present proposal summaries to senior management, outlining the key aspects of the bid, including risks, opportunities, and recommendations. Prepare documentation and cost analysis to ensure a clean handover to the project team and alignment to the customer order / expectations.


What We're Looking For



To thrive in this role, you should bring:


Minimum of HNC in Building Services Engineering, or related field.

Substantial experience in a similar role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of tendering processes and contractual terms in the UK.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with estimation tools and CRM systems. Ability to produce AutoCAD sketches for spacial design and costing purposes

A proactive and self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently.

Excellent communication skills for clear and concise reporting and stakeholder engagement.
