A new position has been created for a PCV fitter/machanic, to join our existing team.
The role will involve carrying out maintenance of company vehicles and driving company vehivles as and when required by work commitments (PCV driving licence would be beneficial, however training can be provided to obtain a PCV driving entitlement)
Your responsibilities would include, but are not limited to:
Carry out repair and maintenance to exceed DVSA standards.
Diagnostics and repair of mechanical faults including steering, brakes, air systems, driveline but not limited to.
Diagnostics and repair of electrical, and body systems. Use diagnostic equipment to assist diagnostics.
Routine inspection and servicing to maintain roadworthiness and MOT standards.
Prepare and present vehicles for MOT
Carry out major unit changes and repairs where applicable.
Complete necessary paperwork including service sheets to a good standard.
Meet and work to site health and safety requirements.
Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to complete repairs
Assemble and disassemble vehicle components as needed
Follow schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to guide repair processes
Drive company vehicles on school/college contracts.
Qualifications for PSV/HGV maintenance and repair
Minimum of NVQ level 2 or any equivalent international qualification (will require confirmation)
Qualifications for car and light vehicles will be considered - Minimum of NVQ level 3 or any equivalent international qualification (will require confirmation)
If you are not qualified, applications may be considered from candidates with at least 5 years' experience in repair and maintenance of PSV/HGV
A full UK driving licence (6 points or less) PCV entitlement preferred
Strong mechanical knowledge and aptitude
Experience with hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment
Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks
Proficient in reading schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
Familiarity with welding and soldering techniques preferred
Knowledge of panel beating, bodywork repairs and spraying also preferred
The ability to complete PCV driver training to obtain a PCV driving license
