Alliance Psychological Services is an independent provider of counselling and psychological therapy services based in the Tees Valley area and working across the North-East region. We are working in partnership with Teesside Mind to deliver the IMPACT on Teesside service.

Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWP)

Full time positions available

Salary Scale: 26,500 - 29,500 pro rata to hours worked.

We are currently recruiting for qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs). This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our innovative Impact on Teesside NHS Talking Therapies service, working with adults aged 16+ within the framework of the national NHS Talking Therapies (for Anxiety and Depression) Programme, delivering a variety of low intensity interventions via face to face, telephone, and digital modalities.

The successful post holders

must

hold a BPS accredited PWP course qualification (at either level 6 or 7), be enthusiastic, hardworking, and able to meet specified targets in order to deliver a high-quality Primary Care Mental Health Service.

Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will be employed by one of the organisations within the partnership which will be discussed at appointment. You must have the right to work in the UK as we are currently unable to offer working visa opportunities.

Whilst we continue to offer a range of ways for people to access our services including face-to-face appointments across the Teesside area, we will be happy to discuss options for hybrid working in line with patient and service needs. Although we will consider hybrid working opportunities, please be advised this will not be a fully remote post.

Job responsibilities

The postholder will provide a range of evidence-based low intensity psychological interventions within the framework of the national NHS England Talking Therapies programme, as part of the Impact on Teesside NHS Talking Therapies service.

The post-holder will also work within Impacts duty team where they will offer assessment and support to patients referred into the service.

This position may require flexible hours between 8am until 8pm weekdays.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

To work as a member of the Impact on Teesside Talking Therapies team

To create and maintain effective working relationships within the wider Impact team and elsewhere. To offer advice and support to other members of the wider Primary Care Team, including GPs and other Health Professionals, on mental health issues, and in relation to appropriate referral pathways for patients with mental health needs. To liaise effectively with Secondary Care and voluntary sector organisations and services. To attend meetings and provide reports as required. To assist in the development and promotion of the service.

To provide a range of low intensity CBT interventions

To provide assessment, including risk assessment, of clients referred to Impact on Teesside, involving making decisions around treatment/support pathways, as well as supporting with any signposting and onward referrals where clients may require other services, including statutory and voluntary agencies. To select and deliver a range of low intensity CBT interventions in collaboration with the client via a range of modalities, including telephone, face to face and group work. To work within an appropriate time framework. To maintain clients confidentiality within agreed guidelines.

Safeguarding

Responsible for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults by always promoting the welfare of service users and operating within local policies and procedures. Taking appropriate safeguarding action to protect children and vulnerable adults at risk of significant harm, whilst receiving support and guidance from supervisors/senior members of staff and specialist teams. Signposting and/or referring families to Early Help services when required. To share appropriate information with other agencies regarding the service users wellbeing and progress, keeping within the boundaries of Confidentiality and Information sharing protocols.

To provide a professional and ethical service

To maintain appropriate records including all required assessment and evaluation tools. To undertake relevant Continuing Professional Development activities both as required for the purposes of PWP registration as per professional body guidance and as identified through Impacts Professional Development and Appraisal System. To engage with the required amount of clinical and caseload management supervision from a qualified PWP supervisor within Impacts Supervision Programme and in line with PWP registration requirements. To operate within agreed NHS, Impact and professional guidelines and Codes of Practice. To ensure a safe and secure working environment for self and others and to act as necessary within Health and Safety and other guidelines. To adhere to all Impact Policies, Procedures and Guidelines. To promote and value the rights, responsibilities and diversity of people using the Service.

Essential

Experience

Essential

Experience of working in a mental healthcare setting. Ongoing clinical supervision of therapeutic work. Demonstrates an understanding of the PWP role within NHS Talking Therapies and the application of low intensity CBT interventions. Ability to meet agreed or specified service targets. Ability to manage own caseload and time. Demonstrates high standards in written communication. Able to write clear reports and letters to referrers. Demonstrates an understanding of a range of mild to moderate mental health problems, including anxiety and depression and how it may present in primary care. Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health/benefits and employment systems. Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post.
Desirable
