Job summary

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Psychologist to join our established Community Mental Health Service in Bridgwater. You'll work alongside a skilled multi-disciplinary team including therapists trained in CBT, EMDR, CAT, DBT, Art and Family Therapy, and fellow Psychologists.


This role involves providing specialist psychological assessments, formulations, and interventions for adults with complex mental, emotional, and physical health needs. You'll also contribute to risk assessments, staff training, supervision, and service development.


We welcome applications from newly qualified Psychologists looking to develop into a Band 8a role, with structured support and supervision provided.


Our service operates Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, with no weekend working. Flexible working options, including compressed hours or adjusted start/finish times, are available.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

Provide specialised psychological assessments and interventions for adults and older adults. Conduct risk assessments and contribute to multi-disciplinary care planning. Support service development and transformation within community mental health. Supervise junior psychology staff and trainees. Deliver training in psychological skills to team members. Maintain professional standards and adhere to relevant codes of conduct. Promote evidence-based practice and participate in clinical governance. Engage in research and service evaluation activities.

Qualifications

Essential




Qualified Clinical / Counselling Psychologist (D.Clin. Psychol or equivalent) & eligible for Chartered Clinical Psychologist status in the British Psychological Society.


Registered with HCPC.


Further training or experience in clinical specialism

Experience

Essential




Further training in related area


Experience of work in adult mental health services and working with people with severe and complex mental health needs.


Experience of teaching/training and supervision.


Experience in undertaking leadership roles within psychology / mental health services in the NHS and in contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of strategies and clinical policies in multi-disciplinary and multi-agency contexts.


Experience of working with complex trauma and with systems working around people who have experienced trauma.

Experience of neuropsychological assessment and awareness of impact of neuropsychological symptoms on presentation

Must be a car driver with a valid driving licence or have access to transport with appropriate business insurance in order to travel throughout the Trust, to meet the needs of the service.
