Are you a Dietitian keen to make a difference to the nutritional health of the population? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dietitian with an interest in public health to join our dedicated team in ABUHB dietetics. The successful post holder will support health improvement and community nutrition initiatives, in particular, the Early Years Services.
This is a key service to support the long-term plan to prevent and reduce obesity in Gwent, and to provide the foundations for an increase in the number of children and adults who are a healthy weight as part of "Building a Healthier Gwent".
The post holder will have the support of the Public Health Lead Dietitian and wider community team, paediatric colleagues, Service Leads, and a range of community partners to deliver preventative programmes in community settings.
The purpose of the role is to train and upskill community practitioners and volunteers working with families and children in food and nutrition. This will enable them to support population improvement in diet and enable children to have the best start in life. You will be a key part of the Nutrition Skills for Life team, delivering Community Food and Nutrition kills for the Early Years courses and supporting community nutrition initiatives.
With the support of the Public Health Lead Dietitian, the post holder will deliver these initiatives in collaboration with health, local authority, leisure, social services, voluntary sector and other agencies. They will work alongside other disciplines and agencies in order to ensure a coordinated approach to the development and delivery of preventative nutrition and dietetic programmes. With dietetic colleagues they will develop appropriate resources for programme delivery, reviewing and updating products and content to meet changing demands.
The post holder will be based at Ty Gwent but cover all of ABUHB. Some home working can be included for virtual tasks as appropriate.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
