Job Description

Are you ready for an exciting opportunity to join Hywel Dda University Health Board's Public Health Team?



We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Public Health Directorate and contribute to a wide range of impactful projects covering topics such as Social Model for Health, Starting & Developing Well, and Healthy Weight. You will play a key role in tackling health inequalities and preventing ill-health across our communities by helping to deliver the ambitions set out in our Public Health strategic plans.



What we're looking for:



Proven experience in public health improvement and health promotion. (e.g. schools, communities, early years).

Excellent partnership-building and influencing abilities.

A track record of initiating and developing successful programmes.

Confident working autonomously and as part of a wider team.

A passion for reducing health inequalities and driving innovation through continuous improvement.



Key Responsibilities:



Contribute to the planning, development and delivery of programmes and initiatives to promote health and wellbeing in our communities.

Build and maintain strong partnerships with a range of professionals and organisations.

Monitor and evaluate public health programmes using data analysis and evidence-based approaches.

Support the prevention agenda by leading and contributing to key strategies and programmes that improve population health and wellbeing, and reduce health inequalities.

Work in a matrix structure to support the wider team's functions and priorities.



The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.



Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.



We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.



We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.



Our services are provided in:



Four main hospitals:

Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest

Five community hospitals:

Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire

Two integrated care centres:

Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings

47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers

Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services
