The Role
Bishop Lloyd and Jacksons Solicitors is expanding its practice with the launch of a dedicated Public Law and Discrimination department - this an exciting opportunity for an ambitious paralegal to assist with driving forward this dynamic new team.
We are looking for an experienced Public Law Paralegal to join our team on a full-time basis.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct own casework including dealing with a range of Public law and Discrimination matters and undertaking own advocacy.
Conducting initial client interviews and taking detailed instructions.
Advising clients on their rights, remedies, and legal options in a clear and compassionate manner.
Maintaining a professional and supportive relationship with clients throughout the legal process.
Instructing Counsel and attending court
Drafting legal documents, correspondence, witness statements, and pleadings.
Liaise with clients, courts and counsel
Report to the Supervising Solicitor to review and discuss cases; provide updates and developments
Ensuring all work complies with LAA guidelines and funding criteria.
Accurately recording time and billing using LEAP case management system.
Maintaining up-to-date and organised case files for audit and compliance purposes.
Track case deadlines and ensure compliance with procedural requirements
Assisting in other practice area, particularly in, Employment Law
What We're Looking For
Paralegal certification or relevant degree in legal studies
2+ years of experience in a legal environment, preferably in the area of public law or discrimination cases
Excellent research and writing skills
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities
Proficiency in legal research databases and case management software
Excellent communication abilities with a strong focus on client satisfaction
Excellent analytical skills and ability to use own initiative
Excellent IT Skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and documents management skills
Hours & Location
Full time role, Monday - Friday from 9am to 5:30pm.
1 Year Fixed Term Contract
Hybrid working model (office/remote split available)
Salary Range: 23,000 - 25,000
