Job Description

To support the business in machining of new and used pump components. To be able to read and manufacture from engineering drawings. To have the ability to reverse engineer components by means of measuring and applying standard engineering principles and design tolerances to worn parts. To work as part of an efficient team to provide an unrivalled service to our customer base.

Key Responsibilities:

Bias on turning majority of machining on manual centre lathe producing shafts, sleeves, spacers, etc. Liaise with workshop personnel at all levels. Machining cast parts to drawing such as impellers, bearing housings, casings. Use of CNC lathe machine (SWED 12) General milling including keyways and slots Slotting machine use Vertical borer machining valve bodies, pump bowls, pump casings etc. To be able to balance impellers on balancing machine and machine impellers where necessary. Remove and replace case wear rings and bushes To be able to machine accurately to design tolerances. Present a professional Image, support and promote brand values at all times. Carry out all work practices in line with Company Health and Safety Policy. Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures. Meet high standard of cleanliness and housekeeping. Support workshop fitting and site activities when required

Experience & Qualifications:

Essential:

Time served Craft Apprenticeship/trained machine shop engineer using conventional lathes, drills, mills, etc. Confident using measuring equipment and reading engineering drawings Relevant qualification to NVQ Level 3 People Skills, teamwork and collaboration Service knowledge & understanding of rotating equipment Problem solving skills An organized & methodical approach. Attention to detail
Desirable:

Valid driving licence Self-motivated and confident The ability to work alone & under one's own initiative Practical and highly adaptable Excellent organisation Skills Discrete and honest The ability to prioritize and cope with last-minute changes Stamina, persistence, enthusiasm & a proactive manner Flexibility & adaptability, with a common sense attitude to problem solving
