The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an Accounts Assistant (Purchase Ledger) to join our busy Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is either looking to build a career in finance or already has some foundational experience and is ready to take the next step.
Key Responsibilities
Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner
Cash book reconciliation
Assist updating P&L reports with reconciled data and month-end
Assist with accounts receivable, raising sales invoices, and outstanding payments
Process non-AP vouchers and file all supplier invoices
Reconcile supplier statements and assist with resolving discrepancies
Prepare BACs payment runs and create beneficiaries in the banking system
Raise and process ad hoc non-AP payments
Perform cash book reconciliations
Raise ad hoc journals as required
Create and save monthly MME reports
Assist with timely and accurate month-end inputs
Manage and distribute incoming mail
Maintain the franking machine
Record and circulate daily cleared bank balances
Support the finance team with general reconciliation and account maintenance duties.
Candidate Profile
A genuine interest in finance with a proactive attitude to learn and develop
Ideally some prior experience in a finance or accounts role, or currently studying towards a finance qualification
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
High attention to detail and a strong sense of accuracy
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
Minimum of GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent)
