Purchase Ledger Clerk (Part time or full time hours available)

VFP Group are a specialist service provider in the Fire and Security Industry and due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and detail-focused Purchase Ledger Clerk to join our Accounts team.
This role will play a key part in supporting the financial function of the business, working closely with Finance Manager and wider team to ensure the accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices, payments and expenses.

Job Summary:
As a Purchase Ledger Clerk, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the purchase ledger, ensuring supplier invoices, expenses and payments are processed accurately and efficiently. VFP Group operates across a range of sectors including education, care, leisure, retail, construction and property management.
This role would suit someone with previous accounts payable experience who is organised, proactive and able to work to deadlines in a fast-paced, growing business.
Key Responsibilities:
Processing supplier and subcontractor invoices accurately and in a timely manner using Xero
Coding invoices to the correct nominal and tax codes
Monitoring the accounts email inbox, responding to queries and actioning items promptly
Preparing and processing supplier payments
Sending supplier remittances and completing supplier statement reconciliations
Processing engineers' expenses and timesheets
Dealing with invoice and payment queries from suppliers and internal departments
Providing sales ledger support and cover when required
Maintaining and updating Excel spreadsheets with a high level of accuracy
Providing departmental cover and support as required
Carrying out general office and administrative duties
Actively following and promoting company values and behaviours

The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, detail-oriented and capable of working both independently and as part of a team. You must be able to manage multiple tasks, work to strict deadlines and maintain high standards at all times.
Previous experience within a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable role is essential. Experience within the construction sector and an understanding of CIS would be advantageous but not essential. Full training on Xero will be provided in-house.
Key Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 12 months' experience working within Accounts Payable / Purchase Ledger
Experience and understanding of accounting software (Xero desirable - training provided)
Strong IT skills, particularly Excel
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organisational and time management skills
A proactive and positive approach

Location and Hours:
Head Office is based in Ashton in Makerfield (WN4).
This role is full-time and office based.
Full time hours are:
8.30am - 5.00pm (Monday to Thursday)
8.30am - 3.00pm (Friday)
we will accept applications for 30+ hours
