We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Purchase Ledger Clerk to join our finance team. The role of the Purchase Ledger Clerk is to manage the company's outgoing payments, ensuring all purchases are properly recorded, authorised and paid in a timely manner. Your attention to detail, numerical proficiency, and organisational skills will contribute to the smooth operation of the Finance Department and ensure financial accuracy.
Responsibilities
Manage department email inbox, ensuring all emails are recognised and actioned in a timely manner.
Process supplier invoices in multiple currencies, verifying accuracy against valid POs in Progress Plus.
Follow through with Disputes process to completion to avoid unnecessary delays in payment.
Process any utility invoices for properties directly in Sage using correct nominal code and project.
Prepare and process payments to suppliers in GBP and EUR, ensuring timely settlements in accordance with supplier terms.
Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
Chase any missing Direct Debit invoices from suppliers.
Assist in maintaining the general ledger.
Ensure proper coding of supplier transactions. Posting corrective journals where necessary.
Contribute to month-end and year-end closing processes.
Maintain organised and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
Ensure that records are filed systematically and retained in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Provide support during financial audits and assist in preparing audit documentation.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Purchase Ledger Clerk or in a similar role is preferred.
Proficiency in accounting software and tools (e.g. Sage, Microsoft Excel).
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills are a must.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Competence in data entry tasks with high accuracy levels.
