Job Title: Purchasing Assistant

Function: Support Services

Reporting directly to the Support Services Director

Purpose of Role

The Purchasing Assistant will support the Support Services Director & Procurement Lead in executing purchasing activities, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring the smooth operation of procurement processes. This role will focus on achieving cost efficiencies, maintaining accurate stock levels, and ensuring compliance with company standards and values.

Responsibilities



Maintain the Company's Core Values & Expected Behaviours Maintain high standards of quality, health and safety, environment Assist in sourcing materials, components, and services that meet the required quality and specification standards. Support the Procurement & Systems Lead in obtaining and evaluating supplier quotations to ensure best value for money. Maintain and update supplier databases and assist in ongoing supplier performance monitoring. Raise and process purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring proper authorisation. Collaborate with the stores and production teams to maintain accurate stock levels and prevent shortages. Participate in monthly stock spot checks and annual stock takes, inputting accurate data into the ERP system. Liaise with internal departments such as Sales, Engineering, Production, and Quality to align purchasing requirements. Assist in maintaining documentation for material certifications and compliance records. Help with contract renewals and supplier negotiations under supervision. Support implementation and utilisation of the ERP system within the procurement function. Contribute to continuous improvement projects within procurement and supply chain. Complete job costing tasks and feedback to relevant departments. Assist the Support Services Director in maintaining and communicating customer schedules.

Qualifications



Some prior experience in a purchasing, supply chain, or procurement administrative role GCSEs or equivalent; A-levels or further education in business or supply chain advantageous Willingness to learn and develop within a procurement career path
