We are a growing small business seeking a hands-on Purchasing & Procurement Specialist to manage the full buying process across our product lines and operations. This role ensures we have the right materials, products, and services at the right time and price, while maintaining quality and strong supplier relationships.
Responsibilities
Source and negotiate with suppliers for raw materials, finished goods, packaging, and services
Raise purchase orders, track deliveries, and maintain accurate purchasing records
Monitor stock levels, forecast needs, and plan reorders to avoid shortages or overstocking
Compare supplier pricing, lead times, and quality to ensure best value
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new suppliers
Coordinate with production, sales, and warehouse teams to align purchasing with demand
Review invoices against orders and resolve discrepancies with suppliers or accounts
Track and report on spend, cost savings, and purchasing KPIs
Maintain compliance with company policies, quality standards, and relevant regulations
Identify opportunities for cost reduction, improved terms, and more sustainable sourcing
Handle any urgent or special purchasing requirements as they arise
Qualifications
Proven purchasing/procurement experience, ideally in manufacturing, food, or retail
Strong negotiation and supplier-management skills
Good understanding of stock control and inventory planning
Proficient with purchasing or ERP systems, spreadsheets, and data analysis
Excellent communication and organisational abilities
Comfortable working independently in a small, fast-moving business environment
