Role: QA Engineering Manager



Location: London office / Hybrid (2 days per week in the office)



The role



Engineering Managers at Rightmove help engineers to innovate and make great technical decisions whilst developing their skills and experience. They support great team-working, set technical standards and direction, and grow strong communities of technical practice. The role sits within Engineering - part of Product Development - and is responsible for developing software applications to meet Rightmove's users and business needs.





We would welcome applications from seniors who are looking to step into an Engineering Manager position.





During a typical week you can expect to cover a varied range of topics and tasks, no two weeks are the same, but it will usually be a blend of:




Working with individual QAs on coaching, development, and support. Working within the community of practice to strengthen knowledge sharing and learning. Working with the QA manager to drive and deliver against the QA strategy and roadmap. Working with other engineering managers to continuously improve engineering. Working with Product Owners to influence and help shape effective ways of working in the teams to help them deliver against objectives. Involvement in wider Rightmove cultural initiatives. Hiring great people for long-term success, delivering an amazing candidate experience. Looking for opportunities to use your knowledge and experience to benefit different teams and areas. Staying on top of trends and changes within QA practice with a view to experimenting with new ideas to further increase our effectiveness.

We're looking for someone who:



Has a genuine passion for QA as a practice, with extensive experience in the field. Champions all aspects of the craft (for example security, accessibility, privacy, resilience, etc.) Is keen to use tools and technology wherever it can effectively improve QA Is context driven, using their experience to define the right approach Is driven by delivering value in the best way, not simply completing tasks Loves to bring people on the journey, skilled at gaining support and buy-in where needed Actively listens and seeks out the real concerns Collaborates effectively and knows when to adapt styles to accomplish goals Loves to try new ideas and is happy to learn from failure as well as success Enjoys coaching and developing people with varying levels of experience Is pragmatic and adept at creating options to solve problems Holds high standards and encourages those around them to do the same Encourages openness, trust, and honesty in all they do
