It's an exciting time to join a rapidly growing business with plenty of positive changes ahead. The QC Controller will play a key role in driving continuous improvement and ensuring all products are made safely and to the highest quality standards. The role is mainly based on the production floor and includes process checks, completing documentation, and supporting the QC Supervisor with day-to-day technical and quality tasks. You will also be part of the team that maintains our current SALSA and Organic certification.
Key Responsibilities
1. Food Safety & CCP Checks
? Carry out all Critical Control Point (CCP) checks, including cooking temperatures, hot fill, metal
detection, and blast chilling.
? Record results accurately and report any issues straight away.
? Place any non-conforming product "On Hold" and complete the required reports.
2. Raw Material and In-Process Checks
? Check all incoming raw materials for quality, certification, and temperature.
? Verify weighing and batching are done correctly.
? Carry out pH, Brix, taste and visual checks on finished products.
? Look after retention samples.
3. Hygiene, GMP & Allergen Control
? Complete daily GMP and hygiene checks on the production area.
? Support allergen controls by carrying out swabbing and verification checks.
? Calibrate equipment such as probes, scales, and refractometers.
? Carry out checks for glass and hard plastic.
4. Paperwork, Labelling & Traceability
? Keep all quality and production records up to date and accurate.
? Check labels, batch codes and Use By dates are correct.
? Help with investigations and root cause analysis when issues occur.
5. Support to QC Supervisor
? Assist the QC Supervisor with day-to-day technical duties.
? Help with quality checks, problem-solving and gathering information for audits.
? Communicate clearly and work closely with the QC Supervisor to maintain standards.
Shift Responsibilities (Thursday to Monday)
? Ensure all quality checks are completed over the weekend.
? Provide thorough handovers to the QA team for the following day.
? Maintain QA cover during busy periods or times with fewer staff on site.
Skills & Experience
? 1-2 years' experience in a QC or QA role within food manufacturing.
? Food Safety Level 2/3 and HACCP Level 2.
? Good understanding of GMP and audit requirements.
? Strong attention to detail and good communication skills.
? Confident using Microsoft Word and Excel.
? Reliable, organised and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
