Indaver Solvents. At its site in Middlewich, Cheshire, UK (with immediate central links to the M6), Indaver operates a solvent recycling facility; accepting hazardous and non-hazardous (waste) solvents. Under the brand name Indaver Solvents, Indaver offers high-end solvent recycling solutions and supports its customers with lab analyses, pilot scale trials and commercial scale recycling. Since 2022, when Indaver purchased this site, there's been a healthy amount of investment in the site to improve process and the environment where staff work.
The QC Manager will overview the Quality Department, ensuring Indaver Solvent's processes and procedures are followed. Also responsible for maintaining a safe and tidy working environment ensuring housekeeping is priority at all times.
Role & Responsibilities
Coordinate all activities of the Quality Control department to effectively support the supply chain and manufacturing processes.
Manage, review and update all aspects of the IMS relating to the Laboratory and the New Process Development - WI/6.02 and WI/6.09
Gain an understanding of the client's needs and requirements and communicate them and the quality standards to the production teams.
Establish good communication with other departments to support timely decision-making.
Monitor manufacturing processes, devising ways to improve them when necessary to ensure product quality is met.
Control, write and review new and existing specifications and procedures for products or processes, and training laboratory and operational staff to use them.
Monitoring the compliance of all QC procedures and specifications. Inspect the final output, compare it to the specifications, and approve or reject the final product. Issue Certificates of Analysis on final and crude products when required. Ensure that accurate documentation relating to the QC Department is kept and perform statistical analysis on its performance.
Complete weekly housekeeping audits of the Laboratory areas, ensuring that risk assessments are completed, reviewed and kept up to date when material changes are made.
Ensure operability of GC machines and all other analytical instruments. Help resolve technical problems associated with analytical equipment. Oversees the calibration state of all analytical instrumentation.
Oversee process chemists with their work on new process enquiries, providing technical support and training.
Represent the Quality function during internal and external audits, eg BSI, EA, HSE, etc.
Ensure that all Quality system non-conformances, including internal and customer, are followed up with corrective actions taken and eventual close-out.
Hire, train, and develop the QC Team. Provide guidance and support in matters relating to the QC department, and ensure that QC requirements are completed and reported in a timely matter.
Carry out RTW interviews, follow up on absence management, and any disciplinary proceedings for the team.
Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times by self and the team.
Be prepared to work flexibly as and when the Company requires.
Qualifications and Experience Required
Degree in relevant/complementary scientific subject and 3+ years in industry. Other qualifications (e.g. NVQ) require 5+ years relevant experience
Working in an ISO or GMP/Certified laboratory is an advantage
Working to tight deadlines
GC-FID/MS experience is required (solvent purity analysis)
Experience in wet chemistry techniques (KF, pH, titration)
GC method development experience is a significant advantage
Critical thinking and an independent work ethic are essential
Experience in troubleshooting and root cause analysis is essential
Must be eligible to work in the UK, as no visa sponsorship will be offered for this position
