We are currently looking for an experienced QHSE Management Systems Manager to work with one of our clients within the rail sector on a permanent basis. On top of the basic salary, there is a competitive range of benefits on offer, including hybrid working, cash allowance, and much more. You will be working full time, Mon - Fri, only 37 hours per week, and can split your time between working in the Birmingham office and working from home. As a QHSE Management Systems Manager you will lead in the development and implementation of HSE management systems as part of the IMS in accordance with regulatory requirements, international standards, and the company\'s strategic needs.Our client endeavours to ensure everyone working for them and with them feels included, thrives and achieves their full potential.   • Lead small project teams of internal stakeholders within the business in order to develop and implement the company IMS with a particular focus on health, safety and environmental management, to meet statutory and broader external requirements in order to deliver on the company\'s objectives and commitments.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of the Environmental and Health and Safety Management Systems to ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 ensuring they drive continual improvement to continue to create a world class system; acting as the accountable contact to co-ordinate independent UKAS accredited certification.
  • Lead the development of processes that address key business risks as part of the development of the IMS.
  • Lead on the development of a co-ordinated management system review process as required by international standards e.g. ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
  • Engage and influence with key stakeholders (internal & external) to develop and deliver communication plans to raise awareness of the company IMS and implement key controls to meet legal requirements. Provide leadership, advice and guidance to key stakeholders on environmental and health and safety management systems.
  • Deliver high quality technical support and advice to the project in order to ensure the best possible outcomes from a HSE perspective.
  • Ensure promotion and embedding of Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all HSE initiatives, policies and procedures.
  • Lead, develop and implement the incorporation of HSE controls associated with key risks within the IMS.
  • Lead the co-ordination of the specification, procurement, development, maintenance of IMS training for technical training elements, (including mandatory and optional requirements).
  • Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.
About You:
  • Ability to produce and present documents and reports to a variety of audiences, including internal stakeholders at various levels in the organisation.
  • Influencing and negotiation skills - including influencing internal and external stakeholders without direct authority
  • Ability to interpret management system standards for application to infrastructure projects.
  • Project management skills - the ability to take a project remit and develop project content and technical interventions to deliver defined outcomes.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise own workload, to deliver reports and assurances to agreed deadlines.
  • A qualification in general or construction environmental, health and safety at the level of the NEBOSH diploma (or working towards).
  • Knowledge of management system standards such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 and management systems best practice.
  • Knowledge and understanding of how enterprise risk management interfaces with health and safety corporate level risks.
  • Understanding the needs for and the reporting of risk and assurance.
  • Experience of leading EHSMS or relevant management systems on an infrastructure project or within a large organisation; including leading on change management to embed practices, policy development experience, supply chain exposure and HSMS performance measurements.
  • Experience of delivering projects and initiatives with proven record of health and safety improvement.
  • Experience of co-ordinating third party audits.
  • Experience of analysing risk information and the development of risk actions.
  • Experience in in creating effective health and safety performance reports that are the basis for management decisions.
  • Experience of safety auditing
