Job Description

We would love to find a passionate, motivated and confident individual to join our team as a Qualifications Development Officer.

The position involves the development of qualifications and resources to support centres and schools in England and Wales.

A teaching or assessor qualification is essential, as well as an understanding and awareness of the education sector.

This position is field based. However, as some travel may be expected on occasions, the ability to travel is essential.

Role Summary



The Development Officer will be responsible for designing, updating and managing learning resources for Sweet's qualifications. The role includes working with designers, developers and the Awarding Body, piloting new content, ensuring accessibility, and supporting the e-learning platform.

For full-time applications, this role will involve Internal Quality Assurance responsibilities and an allocation of centres, contributing to standardisation, sampling and ongoing quality monitoring in line with Sweet's IQA strategy.

Resource Development



Develop engaging, curriculum-aligned learner resources for new qualifications, in line with Awarding Body specifications and national education guidance. Update and amend learner resources for existing qualifications in response to updates from Awarding Body, curriculum changes and customer feedback. Work in partnership with the Awarding Body to seek feedback and approval on new resources or any changes to existing resources. Collaborate with Designer to produce final print-ready versions of all resources. Maintain a clear version control process and documentation trail for all resources to support consistency, audit-readiness and continuous improvement. Monitor developments in the education and qualifications landscape to identify opportunities for new qualifications and resource development, and collaborate with the Awarding Body to develop new qualifications specifications and resources. Work to clear timelines to ensure timely release of new and updated resources. Implement a structured process for piloting new resources with select centres before full release, including multiple stages of approval and testing to ensure excellent quality. Ensure all resources are accessible to learners with diverse needs, including those with disabilities or additional learning requirements. Ensure all content complies with copyright and licensing requirements as necessary.

Digital Resources



Liaise with web developers and/or external agencies to ensure the e-Sweet platform is fit for purpose, technical issues are resolved promptly, and content is aligned with the printed resources. Develop and manage a regular communication feature (e.g. newsletter or blog) to share new worksheets, resources, activity recommendations, links and video content with centres.

Teaching and Supplementary Materials



Maintain and annually update training session materials for Sweet centres to ensure relevance and consistency. Regularly review and refresh additional teacher materials to ensure they remain engaging, accurate and reflective of current affairs and best practice. Develop supplementary content (e.g. worksheets and interactive activities) in response to awareness days, key events and trends.

Line Manager's Duties



Regularly review the department staffing needs with the Operations Manager, ensuring the department is appropriately staffed on an ongoing basis. Support, target and monitor the performance of relevant team members (matrix management system with Quality and Delivery Officer). Conduct regular performance reviews with staff members to measure progress against KPIs and identify any learning and development needs. Work in collaboration with the Operations Manager to conduct a comprehensive induction with all new team members ensuring a full understanding of all company functions. Feed into annual budgets for the team and monitor expenditure of allocated amount.
