Dental Smiles Flagstaff is a high-quality, private dental clinic in Colchester, dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and advanced dental treatments, including implants, Invisalign, and cosmetic dentistry. We are seeking a motivated individual to take on a pivotal dual role, leading our nursing team while guiding our patients through their treatment journey.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced dental nurse ready to take the next step into a leadership and patient-facing commercial role. This position requires a minimum of three years of post-qualification experience. We need someone with proven organizational and leadership skills for the nursing aspect of the role, combined with a genuine passion for communication and patient empathy for the TCO aspect.

The role will commence with an

initial three-month familiarisation

period dedicated to the nursing, compliance, and leadership requirements of the practice. Following this period, the Treatment Coordinator responsibilities will be fully integrated into the position, with full TCO training provided at that stage for the right candidate. Core Responsibilities Leadership & Clinical Management:

Take full responsibility for the creation, management, and distribution of the dental nurse rotas, utilizing strong problem-solving skills to manage demands efficiently.

Lead the induction, mentoring, and ongoing training of all dental nurses, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

Serve as the primary lead for compliance, ensuring all clinical areas meet or exceed CQC requirements and GDC guidelines.

Manage and conduct regular clinical audits (e.g., infection control, legionella, sharps).

Oversee all clinical stock control, procurement, and inventory management. Treatment Coordination (TCO - Integrated after 3 months):

Act as the patient's main point of contact, guiding them through their entire treatment journey.

Use excellent communication skills to listen to patients' needs, understand their priorities, and build trusting relationships.

Clearly explain treatment options (including advanced procedures like implants), costs, finance plans, and practice membership plans.

Facilitate high case acceptance rates, combining patient care with commercial awareness. Essential Skills & Qualifications Required: Current registration with the General Dental Council (GDC) and a minimum of three years of qualified dental nurse experience.

A demonstrable passion for communication, empathy, and listening to patients.

Exceptional Time Management & Prioritization

: Must be highly organized, with proven ability to problem-solve and manage competing demands efficiently.

Experience in a senior or leadership capacity, managing compliance, stock, and rotas. Proficiency in dental software (e.g.SFD, Dentally) and general IT skills. Highly Preferable:

Significant implant nursing experience

(assisting in surgical placements and restorative phases) is highly desired.
