As an experienced early years practitioner, you will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise that will play a vital role in shaping the educational journey of our young learners aged 2-5 years.

Contract/Hours:

Monday to Friday 8am-3.15pm, Term Time only (36 hours, 15 minutes per week). Contract ending July 2026 with the possibility of extending the contract to the next school year.

Shift and schedule:

No weekends, Day shift, Monday to Friday

Immediate or September 2025 start

Pay:

12.81 per hour Level 3 qualified

Job Summary of Pre-School Practitioner



Work as a part of the pre-school team, under the direction of the pre-school leader, to provide safe, high-quality education and care for young children. To act as a keyworker to a group of children. Give support to other personnel within the setting.

Key responsibilities:



1) Use your knowledge and experience to assist with the planning of the curriculum and appropriate educational opportunities for all children within an inclusive environment.

2) Act as a keyworker to a small group of children. liaising closely with parents/carers and other keyworkers to ensure individual needs are met, and to be responsible for observations and record keeping relating to the progress and development of key children.

3) To encourage parental involvement and support through the development of effective working relationships.

4) To ensure that activities are carried out in a safe and responsible manner in accordance with the statutory responsibilities as laid in EY framework, and to advise the pre-school leader of any concerns over children, equipment etc.

5) To ensure that the pre-school offers the highest standards of physical and emotional care, health and safety, and personal and food hygiene at all times.

6) Implement inclusive practices in daily interaction with children to provide range of stimulating activities to promote all areas of learning. Ensuring that all children have the opportunity to learn, interact and fulfil their potential.

7) Working with a range of people including school staff, visiting professionals and agencies, parents, children and families, and visitors and student placements.

8) Work requires bending, kneeling and crouching for periods of time and may also involve lifting or holding children during planned activities, and changing nappies/toileting duties.

9) Significant elements of inside and outside work, including leading outdoor learning.

10) Promoting positive values, attitudes and good child behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encouraging children to take responsibility for their own behaviour.

11) Having a positive approach to continuous professional development.

12) To actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people in the workplace, ensuring setting policies and procedures are observed at all times.

Qualifications and Skills



Required:



Recognised Level 3 qualification relevant to Early Years. Good standard of basic written and spoken English. A minimum of one year of experience working in a nursery or pre-school setting, demonstrating understanding of child development and early education. Ability to recognise and respond to children's needs, interests, and development. Proactive and positive team player. Willingness to participate in other development and training opportunities.

Desirable:



Passing relevant training courses for Early Years (e.g., working with parents, behaviour management, first aid, ICT). Experience of having kept written records of children's achievements including observations. Working with children with English as an additional language or with additional educational needs.

Relevant Experience



Direct experience of children aged 2 to 5 years. Supporting and extending children's holistic development through a stimulating and challenging environment. Enthusiasm for learning and working with children. Caring, friendly, approachable, open, inclusive and welcoming.
