We are seeking a professional, compassionate, and qualified Dental Nurse/Receptionist to join our healthcare team. This dual role combines front-of-house reception duties with clinical nursing responsibilities, making it ideal for a motivated individual who enjoys variety and working closely with both patients and clinicians. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients while also supporting the clinical team in delivering high-quality dental care. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice and providing an outstanding patient experience.
Responsibilities
Reception Duties
Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive and professional first impression
Check patients in and out efficiently and manage patient flow throughout the day
Manage appointment scheduling, cancellations, and rescheduling
Answer incoming calls promptly and professionally, handling patient queries and directing enquiries appropriately
Maintain accurate patient records and update information as needed
Handle payments and support basic financial administration where required
Complete administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and processing correspondence
Ensure the reception area remains tidy, welcoming, and compliant with health and safety standards
Support the team with additional administrative duties as required
Nursing Duties
Provide chairside assistance to clinicians during dental procedures
Prepare, clean, and sterilise instruments and treatment rooms
Ensure strict adherence to cross-infection control and clinical hygiene protocols
Support patient care by reassuring patients and explaining procedures where appropriate
Assist with stock control and preparation of clinical materials
Maintain accurate clinical records and nursing documentation
Administration, Tracking & Compliance
Fill out and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly trackers
Support lead nurses with compliance-related tasks, audits, and documentation
Assist with maintaining training records, policies, and clinical governance requirements
Requirements
Qualified Dental Nurse with relevant certification and registration
Must be fluent in English, with excellent spoken and written communication skills
Previous experience in a reception or administrative role within a healthcare or dental environment is advantageous
Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Proficiency in using practice management systems, scheduling software, and office applications
High level of patient care awareness and professionalism
Ability to multitask, prioritise effectively, and switch confidently between reception and nursing duties
Team player with a positive attitude and flexible approach to work
