Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate *Female Nurse Team Leader to expand our care team and support its growth. In this pivotal role, you will oversee and support a team of support workers, ensuring the delivery of exceptional care to a happy 7-year-old girl with complex needs, within her family home.

The successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility, adapting to the needs of the client, her family, and the wider care team. Key responsibilities include inducting and mentoring new staff, supporting and supervising the existing care team, conducting staff supervisions, liaising with the family and clinical teams, managing medication charts, rotas, and ensuring robust support and oversight at all times.

We are looking for an organised, motivated professional with substantial experience in caring for children with complex medical needs. Strong leadership skills and a high standard of professionalism are essential to effectively manage and develop a growing care team dedicated to supporting this young girl and her family.

Our client has cerebral palsy, visual impairment, is non-verbal and is a full-time wheelchair user, requiring full assistance with personal and medical care. She is a happy, sociable child who enjoys music, interacting with animals, using sensory equipment, and spending time outdoors. She attends school during term time and is supported by the school care team. She lives in a non-smoking household with her parents and siblings, who work collaboratively with the care team and provide a warm, welcoming environment.

You will play a key role in delivering clinical care, supporting her on a 1:1 basis, assisting with therapies, providing personal care, and managing day-to-day activities, as well as undertaking administrative duties to ensure the smooth running of the team.

Hours:



Hours: 25 hours per week to be worked over 3-4 days.

Term time would generally be administrative tasks and before or after school hours ending by 8pm. Non term time may require longer shifts to allow for family outings, therapy input etc.

These hours are to be worked with flexibility to meet the needs of the client and the care team. Occasional night and weekend shifts may be needed to support new members of the team.

Rates of Pay:



Monday - Friday days and nights - 33 per hour

Weekends -35 per hour

Bank holidays: 1.5 times the usual weekday hourly rate.

There may be opportunities for additional hours and overtime.

Person Specification



Registered nurse (NMC Pin required) Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory position within a home care/ school environment Fun, enthusiastic and happy Full Clean UK Driving License Attendance to all relevant training sessions and meetings as required Excellent communication with the case manager and assistant case manager Able to accompany the family on holiday both in the UK and abroad. Happy to fulfil some client-related household tasks. Ability to offer flexibility with working times and hours to help support with periods of sickness or annual leave within the team. Excellent communication skills including a high standard of written and spoken English and be proficient in record keeping Proficient with basic IT skills. Ability to keep calm in a stressful environment and responds well to instructions when given You should enjoy working alongside others as part of a team, yet also be able to self-direct tasks and activities with our client. Ability to write, update and follow care plans and risk assessments as well as routine plans. Deliver high quality care including clinical observations and personal care, continence care, dressing /undressing and medication administration. To fully support all aspects of the child's ongoing rehabilitation as set out by our child's treating therapists and professionals. To maintain a safe environment for the child; in the home and in all community-based activities where applicable. To report immediately to the employer, and the case manager any concerns regarding the child's medical, physical or psychological health, and to record this appropriately. All matters relating to the child's situation and family are to be treated as confidential and are not to be disclosed to a third party under any circumstance. To adhere to CQC compliance in relation to delivery of care and support. A No smoking/ vaping policy is strictly in place. To adhere to Covid-19 guidelines and risk assessments.

Key Responsibilities



Lead and supervise a team of support workers to deliver high standards of clinical care Write, implement and review care plans in collaboration with the clients' parents and case management team Provide hands-on support to the client and the care team and sign off care team competencies Ensure compliance with CQC standards and company policies Conduct regular training reviews and work alongside the case management team to supervise the care team Liaise with the client's healthcare professionals including school, GP, CM team and MDT team Participate in the recruitment and induction of new staff including supporting with meet and greets, shadowing new staff, reviewing capabilities and assessing competence in clinical skill
