About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Nottingham City Council as a Practice Lead within Children's Services.
You will also play a key role in the Council's quality assurance framework by leading and delivering internal audits, identifying areas for improvement, and supporting the implementation of best practice across the service. Your work will directly contribute to improving outcomes for children and families in Nottingham.

The ideal candidate will have:
Essential Qualifications:
A recognised qualification in Social Work (Degree, PGDip, or MA/MSc).
Registration with Social Work England (SWE) or an equivalent regulatory body, maintained and renewed appropriately.
A Practice Educator qualification or an equivalent teaching/coaching qualification.
Evidence of post-qualification training relevant to social work practice. [Include essential qualifications]
Essential Experience:
Significant experience in children's social care, including substantial case management within Child Protection, Court, and other statutory processes.
Experience in delivering social work training and facilitating group learning.
Demonstrated ability to critically analyse complex legislative, policy, and service documents.
Experience in conducting audits, investigations, or quality assurance activities within a statutory setting.
Proven experience in mentoring, coaching, and supporting the development of social work practitioners, including apprentices and students.
Essential Knowledge:
Strong understanding of quality assurance frameworks and methodologies.
In-depth knowledge of current social work policies, practices, and legislation.
Awareness of regulatory requirements and standards in social work practice.
Essential Skills and Competencies:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise, and impactful audit reports.
High-level interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and build positive relationships.
Competence in using data and evidence to inform practice improvements.
Ability to design, deliver, and evaluate training programmes.
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
A sophisticated understanding of diversity and inclusion, and how these impact service delivery.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and to act as a role model for best practice.
- This post is covered by the statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) (English Language Requirement for public sector workers), and therefore, the ability to speak fluent English is an essential requirement for the role.
- A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
