Job Description

Main Purpose



Reporting directly to the QA Manager, the successful candidate will have responsibility to assist the Technical Management and Quality Assurance Team in operating the QMS (Quality Management System) and to ensure that business targets (KPIs) are met. To ensure that best practice is followed in the Food Safety, Legality and Quality of products manufactured The overall aim is to create added value for the business and help achieve sustainable competitive advantage by satisfying the demands and needs of customers whilst implementing technical strategy that drives our low cost agenda

Key Responsibilities



To ensure effective teamwork with other QA team members and operational colleagues in a way that minimises conflict

To ensure communication with line management through :

Highlighting training and development needs Highlighting equipment and consumable needs Regular 1-2-1 and team meetings
To assist in the maintenance of the Technical key performance indicator reports and to complete actions to maintain food safety, legality, hygiene and quality standards for the site as directed by the QA Manager

To assist in the maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) and processes in line with legal, customer, company and other best practice requirements, which create, maintain and improve integrity and food safety and quality of all products manufactured. Achieved through :

Preparation of taste panels and management panels of finished product Food safety and environmental audits (CCP, Allergen, GMP, Temperature controls, Labelling) Traceability audits Product legality and quality assessments including microbiological and nutritional Hygiene assessments (Visual, & microbiological) Providing support within he Technical function as required
To observe safe working practices and highlight any potential environmental health and safety hazard to line management

To exercise a positive attitude within the business through emphasis on food safety, legality, performance, quality and control

To seek continuous improvement in all areas of work

To operate in a flexible manner, responding to changing circumstances / scenarios with the capacity to "Make things happen"

To complete QA activities as scheduled and as directed by the QA Manager which are covered below (this is not an exhaustive list)

To ensure audits are carried out in line with the pre-defined schedule. Carry out verification of process controls Ensure all relevant paperwork is available to check process controls, calibration of critical pieces of equipment. Ensure GMP standards are being adhered to. To ensure appropriate product samples are collected as required. Lead & Support project initiatives within the Department to implement improvements and drive change

Qualifications



Good level of written and spoken communication at all levels Good organisational and time management skills Computer literate The ability to work in a fast-paced environment is essential. Basic Food Hygiene or equivalent

Experience



Previous experience within a Quality Auditor role is essential Time served experience in a production environment (food manufacture, FMCG, Chilled etc.) is desirable.
