Job Description

Skea Egg Farms Ltd is a significant player in the agri-food sector supplying eggs to major retailers in Northern Ireland and mainland UK. We are currently advertising (both internally and externally) the following full time permanent position based at Skea:

QUALITY CONTROLLER

Position Purpose:



To ensure that the company's products are fit for purpose and meet both external and internal requirements, including legal compliance and customer expectations and ensure high quality standards are adhered to.

Job Tasks and Duties:



Adhere and work towards the company core values.

Adhere to all company policies and procedures outlined in employee handbook.

Maintain day to day operation of the Quality department on the factory floor including visual inspection or manual testing of products, equipment and finished products before, during or after the manufacturing process and ensure quality team members are fully trained and compliant in all areas.

Maintain the day-to-day quality records and accurately document the results of the inspections and testing.

Maintain the test records and files in a timely and accurate manner.

Monitor and record the performance of the manufacturing processes and equipment against set indicators.

Liaise with the production team regarding daily set up and carry out start up testing for the production line and environment. Work with production management to provide feedback to production operatives regarding accuracy of the manufacturing procedures.

Ensure traceability is maintained throughout the production processes by continuous monitoring and recording on all incoming material and there use during all stages of the production

Conduct Quality control checks to demonstrate compliance of finished goods to product specification and customer requirements before product is dispatched.

Conduct daily routine quality checks of all products such as temperatures, counts, weights, and all overall compliance to specific customer requirements.

Inspecting all incoming materials and finished products for defects and non-conformances.

Perform daily calibration checks on all test equipment.

Stop any operation not meeting food quality control standards.

Report all findings and non-conformances to Quality manager.

Evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for possible corrective actions.

Actively promote and support the Food Safety Culture within the site.

Work in line with industry regulations and legislation including HACCP, BRC, and Food Hygiene Standards.

The Person:



Formal Qualification in a Food Science or related area is desirable Minimum of 1 year in a Supervisory position within Food Manufacturing is desirable Understanding of Food Safety & Quality processes Good knowledge of industry standards Keen interest in helping lead and development a team to deliver high standards Ability to make decisions, help develop strategy and drive an agenda forward Strong communication skills and the ability to positively influence
