We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Controller to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards and comply with industry regulations. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of our production processes and ensuring customer satisfaction through consistent quality assurance.
Responsibilities
Conduct regular inspections of products throughout the production process to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Complete all QA checks as required by the HACCP system and ensure all non-conformances related to the checks are recorded together with any action taken to prevent a recurrence and to ensure no non-conforming product is released into stock.
Carry out raw material and packaging intake checks.
Take shelf life samples from line, identify and store in labelled cases in the QA Kitchen.
Ensure that final pack metal detection checks are conducted and investigate any rejected product and isolate metal and logging in the non-conformance file together with any actions taken.
Take samples from the production line and carry out specified in-house tests and send samples away for external analysis and keep records of the results.
Check the correct application of pack/case labels, including BBD, Site codes and WM batch codes.
Report all non-conformances to the Technical Manager, General Manager and Shift Manager and ensure any product put on hold or rejected is clearly identified.
Carry out pre-production audits.
Verify that the thermometers are functioning with hot water and chilled water and ice on a monthly basis.
Verify that the scales are working with certificated weights.
Ensuring the amenities are stocked up with all the facilities required for satisfactory hygiene maintenance.
Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working area and comply with current hygiene and safe working practices maintaining the requirements of the "Clean as you Go policy".
Follow the 10 key Food Handler points highlighted in the Food Handler training course with particular emphasis on hand washing, jewellery and protective clothing standards to prevent product contamination and ensure all other personnel follow these.
Stand in for other production workers, after suitable training, to meet production requirements.
Awareness of critical control points in relation to the above responsibilities.
Deputise in the absence of the Quality Manager on issues relating to the Quality Management System.
To carry out any other reasonable requests that help drive the business forward.
Assist in training staff on quality assurance procedures and best practices.
Stay updated on industry trends and regulations related to quality control.
Skills
Strong understanding of HACCP principles and their application in a manufacturing environment.
Excellent analysis skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions based on findings.
Proven experience in quality assurance, preferably within a similar industry.
Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for reporting findings and collaborating with team members.
