Job Description

Job Purpose


As a member of the technical team, the Quality Controller contributes to the successful operation of the Quality Control function on site. This includes the following functions:

Production monitoring and control in accordance with customer specifications and Customer Codes of Practice Environmental and product monitoring

Shift Pattern


4 on 4 off 5:30-17:30

Principle Accountabilities:



Raw material analysis of incoming goods Processing of raw materials to create finished product in accordance with established specifications The packing of cooked or raw product into sealed retail ready packaging Thermal processing of raw product in accordance with the Company HACCP plan The packing of cooked product into retail ready modified atmosphere packaging To continually improve processes and standards within the facility

Key Activities



The checking of incoming goods to ensure that they are in accordance with product specifications Must have a full understanding of the company HACCP Plan Ensure CCPs are monitored in accordance with established frequencies and standard operating procedures To ensure that all online quality control tasks, such as weight control, CCP monitoring, packaging and labelling control are completed in accordance with standard operating procedures and associated documentation is completed accurately Ensure all equipment is calibrated according to the daily / weekly schedule Complete the weekly quality sheets accurately and in a timely manner Complete pre-start up checks in the production area Ensure all non-conformances are reported, logged and controlled at all times Collect and log microbiological samples, swabs and water samples for external testing Ensure that records are created and completed in full and in accordance standard operating procedures Collect and store library samples Work alongside fast paced production lines with a flexibility within working hours Flexibility to move from high risk to low risk areas to complete daily duties and also to cover for staff holiday and / or sickness Uphold Company standards regarding hygiene, process control, food safety, traceability and product quality at all times Check and carry out relevant tests to ensure product conformance, quality and safety during the production processes Must fully understand Metal Detection and foreign body detection procedure Create samples for existing and potential new customers and log the data You must challenge any individuals on site who do not follow personal hygiene procedures to promote a continuous improvement culture To ensure that all environmental monitoring, including calibration, swabs, product sampling, water testing and cleaning verification are completed in accordance with standard operating procedures and associated documentation is completed accurately To monitor and log weekly Danfoss data To be a confident member of a multi-skilled, multi-functional, competent team To liaise with other departments within the business to uphold and raise awareness of quality control objectives as described within the company quality management system To contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of the company Quality Management system To address any non-conformities or perceived risks to quality legality or safety and report to the Quality Manager / Technical Manager Effectively deal with problems during production liaising with the necessary departments in order to resolve the issues and continue production Must have a full understanding of product traceability and be aware of all the relevant codes applied to finished products Any other reasonable tasks as agreed with the Quality or Technical Manager

Education & Qualifications



Experience of working in a quality function for a BRC certified manufacturing facility preferrered 2 years experience in a food manufacturing environment Level 3 Food Safety qualification or above HACCP qualification preferential but not essential
