ROLE: QUALITY CONTROLLER

As the Quality Controller at Wholegood, you will play a crucial role in our mission, working directly with the QA Lead and the Technical Team you will be responsible for maintaining our high standards and ensuring we meet our food safety and quality specifications.

Key Responsibilities:



Goods Receiving



Check all Raw Material Intake, ensuring Organic/Demeter Label checks, weights & sizes and quality checks as per specifications and from approved supplier Raise timely supplier product non-conformance notifications if any deviations from agreed specifications. Check internal batch coding is applied correctly as per the Approved supplier List

Storage



Complete Daily Stock quality checks and take corrective actions e.g. quarantining the stock & bringing it to the notice of the Technical Manager/Quality Lead, production manager and stock controller if the product does not meet the specifications Follow the Quarantine procedure with continual follow up of stock on hold and manage the waste/quarantine area.

Production



To ensure all elements of quality are monitored and maintained daily, from raw material to production and goods out. Check and assist of all associated labels throughout the production. Follow customer and legal requirements. Making sure that all relevant details are clear & concise. e.g BBD, product name, weight, country of origin. Save them in the dedicated folder Ensure that contamination control procedures (allergen/Organic/Conventional) are fully adhered to throughout the packing facilities and general warehouse facilities. Act swiftly to label and isolate product where a breach in food safety quality or legality has occurred during packing/picking operations. Assist the Production Manager and Technical in the control of non-conforming product, quarantine, rework or dump decisions. Check daily Temperature monitoring system as operationally functioning. Take and Record Temperature when needed. Ensure Site GMP/GHP are followed and enforce 'Clean As You Go' policy across the site. To Monitor Packaging Control sheets are filled completely & accurately by production staff and complete the QC checks such as product name and label details country of origin, BBE/Delivery by etc Ensure that only product within the required quality is packed accordingly to customer specification. e.g. product, rework or disposal decisions Ensure all production/QC paperwork is filled, collected, and saved in its respective folders. This includes picking, packing sheets, Daily quality checks etc. Checking outer box and pallet condition and labels for goods and ensuring packers are in possession of correct labels. Complete daily Start-up /Close down Sheet Complete scale, chiller and probe calibration or any relative as per schedule To assist in sample collections & daily shelf-life investigations and report any issues to the Quality Lead/Technical Report Process non-conformances to QA Lead and assist in raising internal non-conformances to relevant departments Assist as required in the presentation of the site and products during customer visits Follow the site's product returns process. Assist the QA Lead & Technical Manager with investigating customer complaints

Quality Control



At all times ensure that any food safety, legality and/or quality issues are reported to the Technical manager promptly. To be proactive member of the HACCP team To embrace the company's food safety culture To be a proactive member of Wholegood and to assist where every possible in the drive for continuous improvements Ensure compliance with all procedures and practices in line with the Storage and Distribution BRC latest standard, Demeter standard and any other business protocols. Report any concerns to the Technical manager Monitor Food Defence Protocols on a day-to-day operation and report any issues to the Technical Manager Assist as required in the presentation of the site and products during customer visits Any other duties as reasonably requested by the Technical Manager or the business.

Key Deliverables



Goods Receiving



All fresh produce is received within the acceptable parameters & specifications and timely issue of non-conformance identified.

Storage & Production



Timely Identification of out-of-specification products (wholesale & fresh produce) whether bulk, following quarantine procedure & ensuring product labelling accuracy.

Person Specification:



Either a minimum of 1 year's experience as a QC/QA in a food manufacturing environment or a degree related to food safety and looking for experience

Good communication skills - both verbal and written

Organised

Self-motivated and ability to work autonomously

Excellent team member

Good attention to detail

Working hours: 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM (with flexibility), Monday to Friday (40 hours per week)

Wholegood is based in a Warehouse in Greenford, West London.
