We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Quality and Laboratory Technician to join our team. This is more than just a lab role--it's an opportunity to work closely with our Quality Manager and Production Manager, ensuring every product that leaves our facility meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and excellence.
You'll play a key role at the crossroads of production, R&D, and quality assurance, helping us maintain our reputation for innovation and outstanding products.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance
? Support the Quality Manager in implementing and enforcing quality control processes across all areas of production.
? Assist in inspections and audits to maintain compliance with industry standards.
? Investigate non-conformances, propose corrective actions, and help implement improvements.
? Support supplier approval, goods-in checks, and traceability for ingredients and packaging.
? Monitor performance to ensure systems meet product quality and food safety requirements.
Laboratory Expertise
? Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance.
? Carry out analytical testing on products, ensuring all results meet legal and internal standards.
? Provide blending team support with lab analysis, blending sheets, and problem-solving.
? Ensure ingredient traceability and produce accurate reports.
? Conduct external lab analyses for stakeholders and potential customers, ensuring correct invoicing.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
? Act as a link between production, R&D, and quality teams, ensuring smooth information flow.
? Support the Production Manager in maintaining product quality and site efficiency.
? Proactively identify potential quality issues and work with relevant teams to resolve them.
? Assist with stock control, including label issuing, stock takes, and consumables management.
Continuous Improvement
? Contribute to improving quality processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
? Stay up to date with industry trends, technology, and regulations.
? Bring fresh ideas for innovation and process improvements.
Key Skills & Experience
? Degree in a Scientific or Engineering subject (or equivalent).
? Previous laboratory experience, particularly in analytical testing.
? Strong computer skills, especially Excel, and confident communication abilities.
? Knowledge of quality management systems as well as accreditation bodies such as (SALSA, BRC) is desirable.
? Experience in drinks manufacturing (cider, wine, spirits) is an advantage.
? Results-focused with strong attention to detail.
? Able to work both independently and collaboratively across departments.
? Experience in identifying and supporting process improvements preferred.
