Delivery

Department




The Delivery team is responsible for the entire process flow of delivering the physical data centres from shovel ready state through commissioning, working with Sales, Operations, and management along the way. Construction implements and executes upon the work product developed by the Development & Engineering (D&E) team. The team also manages Vantage's build partners to success through technical feedback and review and actively participating in review of schedule and budget. Many times, a role like this at other companies is purely oversight. One thing that distinguishes Vantage is that our construction teams are given the responsibility and authority to directly drive the process. When compared to external resources, our internal team can ensure the key stakeholders are engaged in the decision-making process to align long-term operational sustainability with value engineering and cost metrics to deliver products aligned with corporate goals. This approach empowers each member of the team to drive high- impact decisions and even more impactful results.

Position Description




Vantage is looking for an ambitious Regional Quality Manager to drive excellence and quality in construction, coordinating efforts across a wide spectrum of ongoing construction projects, departments and supply chain.


The Regional Quality Manager must represent Vantage and assist the Quality Director during external networking events and professional groups, as allocated by the Quality Director. It is expected that the Quality Manager will behave as a role model and act as the Quality ambassador in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders.


The Regional Quality Manager will report to the Quality Director and will be responsible for assessing and reporting on quality at various stages of the construction life cycle to ensure construction quality standards are maintained and swift action taken where risk or key issues are present.


Must be able to foster a positive and collaborative working environment with the team, as well as performing the role of 'Critical Friend' when needed.

Essential Job Functions



Preconstruction




As directed by the Quality Director, the Regional Quality manager will be allocated projects to assess and will work alongside managers in various departments, Design & Engineering, Procurement, New Site Development, Operations and Construction Directors.


The Regional Quality Manager must be actively involved during the pre-construction, construction and defects period carrying our compliance checks and reporting on performance of those who have a duty to check, validate and manage quality outputs. Ensuring the Design & Engineering team are effectively deploying the quality system at the outset, that will prevent scope gaps and design errors. The Regional Quality Manager will also monitor effective Quality Lessons Learnt Workshops as well as ensuring Vantage stage reviews are in place before works commence.



Assist the Quality Director reviewing contractor feedback, industry trends and ensure that quality performance is adequately assessed in the contractor procurement decision. The role requires a level of construction knowledge that can align with Contractors, Consultants and Suppliers to drive improvements in the construction, and handover of building assets to Operational and facilities teams at the required standard.

Construction




Following a disciplined inspection and measurement process of projects, the Regional Quality Manager should communicate in a manner prescribed by the Quality Director, positive results to promote a positive quality message, celebrating individual and project achievements. The Regional Quality Manager should also intervene where the results show a concern. Liaising with the Construction Director, Project Management team and the supply chain quality managers.



The Regional Quality Manager is responsible for listening to project feedback and is to independent review effectiveness of the quality systems used by the General Contractor.



The Regional Quality Manager will collaborate closely with the construction and commissioning teams to ensure early involvement of the commissioning team from Level 2 and Level 3 stages. This engagement is essential to verify that all MEP installations comply with established commissioning requirements and quality standards.



Occasionally project teams may not agree with the Regional Quality Manager on the proposed solution. The Regional Quality manager should escalate to the Quality Director, who should involve themselves to ensure that the right solution is being adopted for the business.



To ensure that the Business is not going to end up with legacy quality issues, the Regional Quality Manager will, as directed by the Quality Director/ Delivery Director focus upon:

Ensure quality Lessons Learnt workshops are held at the agreed stages, and that costs and time impacts are calculated using sound principles Ensure all construction projects are reviewing design, and construction for quality and raising the necessary queries, NCRs, snags and defects as appropriate Train the Project teams where necessary to ensure understanding and capability to manage quality outcomes To triage any quality disputes arising from construction, consultancy and supply contracts, and provide a summary report and recommendation Overview Constructability workshops and gather findings to influence future improvement areas which can be lessons learnt Review upcoming construction regulations and statutory policies to ensure we make ready for change of building methods, inspections or testing Ensure benchmarking and sample suites are adopted and utilised in the construction phase Review Non-Conformities and Defects with the delivery team on a weekly basis to align Corrective actions and RCA for NCRs. Provide Procore assistance to new team members in its required use, and ongoing training and support for Quality actions. Maintain compliance to the VDC Construction Quality Plan and the GCs Quality Management Plan

Completion

& Handover to Operations




The Vantage Quality Team are the champions of quality across the projects. This means that throughout the project, up to the completion of the project QMs should be monitoring the status of the project against the key metrics which make up the Absolute Completion score. The Regional Quality Manager should therefore also be reviewing performance of allocated projects monthly from the outset of construction, and then weekly in the 12-week lead up to handover to ensure that the Projects are on track. The Regional Quality Manager will produce reports that will then be presented to the Executives in Power BI and report any concerns to the Construction Director and Quality Director where necessary. The Regional Quality Manager will:

Ensure completion inspections and duties are carried out effectively by the project team Ensure close out plans are finalised and accurate before completion is awarded Ensure engagement with the operations team at the correct stage of the project Engage with Operations and improve tools, process, and procedures for handover to operations Report issues regarding the above at the earliest opportunity to the Quality Director Monitor any 'Punch lists' post Taking Over Certificate (TOC) to ensure Contractors are fulfilling their completion and defects liability terms

Job Requirements



A Bachelor of Science in either Construction Management, Civil, Structural, or Building Services Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent experience 5+ years of experience in Construction Management in the construction industry Expected travel is less than 60%, but may grow and evolve over time
