An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Quality Manager to join the Technical team at the Wembley site.
Job Purpose:
To work with the Technical Manager to ensure the Safety, Legality, Quality and Integrity of all new and existing products produced by the company.
Organising the day-today running of the Quality Department.
Support day-to-day activities involved with both the technical and operational departments.
Liaise with production on issues of food safety.
Assist in the introduction, review and maintenance of quality systems.
Principle Responsibilities
Manage the daily running of quality assurance team.
Follow up any raw material or quality issues with production, technical or the supplier.
Communicate any raw material issues to the relevant business stake holders such as technical; production; Stock control and Buyers.
Assist with resolution of any microbiological or hygiene non - compliance in the factory.
Monitor all microbiological testing - both the schedules and results. Ensure any deviations are recorded, reported and acted accordingly.
Monitor quality systems on factory floor and carry out quality checks as necessary.
Review all factory and technical process paperwork and ensure that they are all up to date.
Assist in the investigation and response of customer complaints and surveillance failure.
Assist in the maintenance of the Katsouris Brothers Food Safety and Quality Management System.
Assist the Technical Manager in any 3rd Party and retailer / customer / Local Authority audits.
Member of the HACCP team.
Responsible for managing the quality team weekly hours as part of the wage report.
Deputise for the Technical Manager in her/his absence.
New Product Development:
Liaise with the Technical Manager, Process & Specifications Manager and NPD department to attend and assist with factory trials; HACCP reviews, raw material standards and customer visits concerning new products.
Support the Process team to ensure paperwork is correct for the all-new products.
Auditing:
Ensuring compliance with BRC, major retailer audit standards and Cranswick Manufacturing standard.
Assist the Technical services Manager to manage the company GMP and in - house audit systems to a set schedule.
Assist in the Product traceability and Full Product Audits.
Co-ordinate all process audits
Ensure all the quality assurance internal audits are carried out as outlined per audit schedule.
Training:
Co-ordinate and plan training for new Quality Assurance team members.
Assist with the training of new process and quality systems paperwork for factory Personnel as needed.
Financial Authority:
Some financial authority. To order items required for the day to day running of the quality function such as buffer solutions for pH and salt testing.
Recruiting & Disciplinary Authority:
Assist the Technical Manager to review resource requirements within the technical department.
Help in the recruiting of new staff in the technical department.
Help the Technical Manager in carrying out disciplinary actions as required.
Food Safety and Hygiene:
Comply with the company food safety and hygiene policies and procedures at ALL times.
HACCP as appropriate.
Food Hygiene Training as appropriate.
Health and Safety:
Ensure that you understand and adhere to your personal responsibilities with regard the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 or Health and Safety at Work (Northern Ireland) Order SI 1978/1039

Ensuring all machinery under your control has had a pre-start safety check to include machinery, lighting, flooring, fire escape routes & good housekeeping standards.
Responsible for reviewing risk assessments and safe working procedures.
Responsible to ensure that your direct staff have the relevant training to carry the tasks they are undertaking and Responsible for monitoring & reviewing staff behaviours, challenging unsafe behaviours / practices and correcting them. Coaching and mentoring your team through periods of change.
Ensuring effective engagement on H&S matters with your direct reports and creating a forum for communication.
Ensuring all relevant safety inspections are undertaken and documented as required and any defects / issues are resolved in a timely manner.
Ensuring any corrective actions assigned to yourself are closed out within agreed timescales.
Responsible for ensuring compliance to company policies, procedures, site rules and information and instruction given by your employer.
Ensure that equipment is operated safely and correctly at all times.
Report any damages to the relevant manager/line leader and to engineering where required.
Correctly use lifting equipment, such as manual pump trucks, where required. DO NOT USE ANY MACHINERY OR EQUIPMENT IF TRAINING HAS NOT BEEN GIVEN.

Requirements, Experience and Person Specification:
Group and site Induction Training, given prior to any work undertaken in the factory including basic health and safety training.
Level 2 H&S awareness (Slips & Trips, Manual Handling, Risk & Responsibilities, Food Safety for Manufacturing)
Understanding of relevant risk assessments and trained as competent to safe working procedures.
Understanding and application of hazard identification and near miss reporting.
Physically fit to carry out duties which could involve lifting, carrying, twisting, bending, stretching, reaching etc.
Key Skills:
Good understanding of English, both written and verbal
Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, customer, supplier and colleagues within a multicultural workforce.
Good numerical, organisational and record keeping skills
Able to work quickly and methodically and always maintain a high level of concentration.
Able to follow instructions and work effectively within a team environment, show initiative where needed.
Quick Learner, analytically minded and good eye for detail.
Flexible approach to the role and hours and positive attitude towards work.
Computer literate and conversant in Word, Excel and PowerPoint and able to generate graphs, reports and presentations.
