Job Description

Kitchen Bakes Limited is a leading supplier of baked fresh and frozen products to the independent retail sector throughout Northern Ireland. Our success is based on providing quality products supported by an excellent standard of customer service.

A vacancy has arisen within our company for a Quality Manager.

Main duties



o Ensure the delivery of product for sale within specification.

o Manage relevant quality standards, e.g., HACCP to ensure food safety, statutory & company standards are maintained.

o Produce & maintain product specifications as required, and identify and record any product quality problems.

o Ensure suitable product traceability records are maintained throughout the supply chain, and maintain a product recall system.

o Ensure the necessary product testing is completed on time (including micro / swabs), maintaining suitable records & trends and communicating non-conformances appropriately and conducting root cause analysis reports.

o Carry out supplier audits based on risk analysis.

o Co-ordinate internal audits including regular hygiene audits, glass audits and housekeeping / GMP checks.

o To ensure pest control visits take place and ensure agreed recommendations of the pest control company are implemented.

o Communicate technical information in a way that meets the needs of the target audience.

o Monitor factory and staff hygiene standards.

o Support product development and NPD function including specification development, costing, label development.

o Record all customer complaints in a timely and effective manner and provide feedback to management.

o Support staff on queries regarding shelf life, quality, nutritional information and allergens.

o Co-ordinate external audits / visits to ensure positive outcome e.g., liaise with external bodies in relation to food safety issues e.g., EHO, trading standards.

o Check all labelling for legal compliance including weight declaration, allergen / nutritional information, contact details, product description etc.

o Manage label databases, ensuring up to date label information is used on all product labels.

o Produce product / material / ingredient specifications as required.

o Co-ordinate any training or refresher training when required.

o Update and manage the costing database of all products.

o Manage the health and safety standards of the business.

o Ensure the circumstances of any accidents or incidents are recorded in detail, reported via specified methods and that any supporting documentation is completed promptly, including any statutory returns.

o Undertake any other duties, as considered by management to be within scope of the role.

Experience



Previous experience in a Bakery or in a Food environment

Hours of work: 16-24 hours - Negotiable, can be discussed at interview stage.

Essential criteria:



o Level 5 Diploma in Food Technology / Food Science or a Degree in Food related discipline (Food Science, Food Technology, etc.) or equivalent.

o Food Hygiene Certificate Level 3.

o Detailed knowledge of Quality Standards / HACCP / Food Safety, auditing & inspection.

o IT proficient and competent in use of Microsoft Word and Excel.

o Ability to manage tasks and projects independently.

o Ability to show initiative and demonstrate problem solving skills.

Desirable criteria:



o HACCP Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
