Based in Ayr, the Energy Agency is a charity that provides independent advice on energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainable transport, and delivers small and large scale energy efficiency projects throughout south-west Scotland. We work across multiple sectors including housing, businesses and communities.
The Energy Agency is contracted by several councils to provide project management services to deliver the Scottish Government and Council funded programmes. The programmes involve energy efficiency retrofits of domestic dwellings, typically the installation of External Wall Insulation systems.
We are seeking to employ an experienced professional to undertake quality assurance across all sites and provide technical assistance to our Project Managers.
The Quality Officer will assist the Senior Quality Officer in ensuring high quality site inspections, maintaining good working relationships with Contractors and System Designers, and providing technical updates to the rest of the team.
The role involves daily site visits across Ayrshire and Dumfries & Galloway.
Responsibilities
Assisting with quality inspections of installations of insulation measures (mainly external wall insulation) in domestic properties.
Understanding relevant drawings, written instructions and system designer specifications, and using them as a reference when inspecting the work.
Keeping detailed records of various aspects of the work for regular reporting and preparing site reports for the Project Managers using App based tools.
Confirming that the work and the materials meet the relevant specifications and quality standards.
Advising when quality and compliance is below standard and taking necessary steps to ensure this is remedied.
Keeping accurate records of agreed snagging/remedial actions as required, including post-completion defects procedures.
Maintaining a good working knowledge of industry standards in relation to Health & Safety and issuing instructions to Contractors where required.
Ensuring Contractor compliance with scaffolding configuration and issuing instructions to Contractors where required.
Attending regular site meetings to report on Quality issues arising on construction contracts.
Maintaining effective customer relationships and liaising with Contractors to assist in resolving Quality issues affecting individual householders.
Providing feedback on the general performance of contractors.
Maintaining knowledge of methods of installation by attending CPD events and any other relevant training.
Requirements
HND or equivalent in a relevant subject
Demonstrable expeience of working in the construction industry
Demonstrable experience in coordinating quality assessment activities
Proven ability to work with contractors, householders and other stakeholders
Good working knowledge of domestic building construction
Good planning and organisational skills
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Strong commitment to quality
Ability to travel
