We are a fast-growing UK manufacturer specialising in premium freeze-dried pet nutrition. Our mission is to produce safe, high-quality food that pet owners can trust. As part of our continued expansion we are seeking a dedicated Quality Officer to join our on-site Quality & Technical team.

Role Overview


Reporting to the Quality Manager the job holder will be required to provide support in ensuring that technical and legal compliance is maintained across the site.

The role is a factory facing role to ensure, through inspection, that operations meet statutory requirements for food safety, legality, security and quality promoting and driving conformance to site HACCP, QMS and SOPs to deliver right first time product.

This role requires a confident individual who will contribute to the site food safety strategy by ensuring best practice is implemented and promote the behavioural standards expected of employees by being a clear role model.

Key Responsibilities



Team:

Work within the team responsible for the site Technical function, providing support, sharing knowledge and mentoring alongside continuous improvement projects and ensuring that safe operating practices are followed.

Product quality control, testing and sampling:



Responsible for monitoring product quality at all product stages and support manufacturing by reporting and demonstrating inadequate product quality against pictorial specifications (QAS).

Collecting samples as per the daily collection schedule.

Responsible for regular monitoring of all process control documentation.

Responsible for administration of the QA Hold system ensuring that quarantined product is labelled and communicated out.

Critical Control Point (CCP):

Work collaboratively with production operatives in metal detection ensuring that checks are completed to the set frequency and monitoring rejected.

Quality Inspections:

Internal inspections include: Glass and brittle plastics, Factory integrity, post cleaning / hygiene inspection.

Internal Training Support:

To ensure that procedures and policies implemented are transferred and understood by all relevant parties.

Requirements



A sound understanding of the food industry.

Auditing and compliance experience.

Food safety Level 3

HACCP level 3

Strong organisational and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Flexibility to support quality needs across shifts when required.
