Based in our Birmingham office, you'll be part of the Regional Civils division, supporting a diverse portfolio of projects across the Midlands. Working closely with the site-based commercial team, your responsibilities will span preconstruction activities, including procurement support, ensuring you're involved from the ground up.
What you'll be doing

  • Reporting to the project lead Quantity Surveyor the Assistant role is to support in the day-to-day activities of the commercial lifecycle of a construction project
  • Support the Senior QS colleague(s) with:
  • Contract requirements related to Project are complied with in full
  • Financial reporting related to Schemes is produced to the required standard and to the timetable as set from time to time
  • Subcontract procurement
  • Subcontract administration:
  • Timely instructions are issued to the supply chain with appropriate governance having been secured
  • The supply chain is paid in accordance with contractual arrangements
  • Supply chain variations are effectively managed
  • Early warnings and compensation events are produced in accordance with the requirements of the contract
  • Risk Management
  • Cashflow forecasting
  • Ensure effective control of costs in all activity
  • Weekly reporting
  • Liaison within the team, with other teams and the supply chain.
Who we're looking for
The following experience/qualifications are essential:
  • Relevant construction or business degree, or equivalent
  • Has attained or is planning to attain a relevant post-degree qualification for example RICS
  • Full driving licence
  • Computer literate
  • Experience of construction
The following experience/qualifications are desirable:
  • Experience in the build sector, ideally education, accommodation or commercial construction
