Quantity Surveyor (Assets)

, you'll play a vital role in shaping and delivering our planned improvement programmes, helping us create safe, sustainable homes that our residents can be proud of.

This isn't just about numbers, it's about driving value for money, making sure everything we do makes a difference. You'll bring commercial expertise to the heart of our investment projects, ensuring they're delivered safely, on time and within budget.

Day to day, you'll be involved in everything from preparing tender documents and managing procurement activities to reconciling accounts and forecasting spend. You'll work alongside Contracts Managers, Finance, and external partners to keep projects on track, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities

Preparing tender documents including bills of quantities and schedules of work to ensure that YHG has a robust pricing framework when tendering for responsive, cyclical, voids and planned investment work Manage the financial contractual arrangements with internal and external contractors, including the calculation of monthly payments/ accruals, preparation of interim and final accounts with contractors, suppliers and consultants in line with good practice, in accordance with relevant policies and procedures Monitor expenditure, including cash flow forecasts, financial statements and associated performance information, update all live orders ensuring all works are progressed to financial completion, review and process contractor payments, in line with agreed contractual terms Managing a designated budget ensuring that value for money is achieved in all circumstances through the monitoring and control of expenditure and the earlyidentification of any financial irregularity or risk to delivery Assessing and settling contractor's claims throughout the contracts; agreeing final accounts with contractors & suppliers and issuing Final Account Certificate(s) Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role and/or grade Liaise with Finance Teams to ensure a smooth and timely capitalisation process on a monthly basis

More About You

Minimum HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or equivalent Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying or related subject is highly desirable 5+ years' experience in contract administration and commercial management, with knowledge of NEC/JCT contracts Proven record in the procurement and commercial delivery of construction contracts, ideally within housing Strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to monitor budgets, manage risk and provide accurate forecast Skilled in producing clear reports to support effective decision making Confident in interpreting engineering drawings, method statements, risk assessments, and technical documentation Experience in commercial management of property-related contracts, including dispute resolution Strong knowledge of current legislation, British Standards, Codes of Practice and Building Regulations Able to ensure compliant with KPI targets, Health and Safety requirements and environmental management standards Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and all levels Resilient, performance focused and comfortable working in a multi-stakeholder, regulated environment Membership of a professional body such as CIOB or RICS is desired
