Job Description

We are an established maintenance contractor based in various offices throughout the southwest and are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our property services division within our Exeter branch.

With several contracts already secured and further exciting frameworks and projects in the pipeline, this is an incredible opportunity to join a reputable and established business with long term security and career prospects.

It is expected that you will have the following:

A strong background in construction working on a varied project portfolio with individual schemes to 3m

Have excellent negotiation and communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

Estimating



o

Tendering



Prepare accurate estimates and priced submissions for various elements of work. Asses tender documents, drawings, and specifications to develop competitive tenders. Work closely with local team, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure estimates are fit for purpose, deliverable and profitable. Be familiar with the workings of Schedules of Rates (SORs), Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings where required to assess project scope and build understanding of site conditions. Collaborate with bid writers to provide technical content, methodology, and pricing breakdowns. Ensure all tenders are completed to a high standard and submitted on time

Small works estimates



Ensure timescales for contact/visits are confirmed with clients in prescribed timescales. Visit site, carry out measurements, photographic evidence, materials and labour requirements. Meet with subcontractors to discuss their scope of works Collate information gathered and produce a quotation. Recording and monitoring estimates after completion.

Quantity surveying



Assist with monitoring budgets on various size projects, ranging in value Formulate and work with CVR's Procurement and tendering Assist with valuations Support the operations team on a commercial basis. Create monthly reports which will enable accurate Overlook P&L with operational leads

Knowledge / Experience:



Professional Qualification (e.g. HNC/HND/Degree/Diploma) or equivalent

Extensive experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors

Ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of monthly reporting

Excellent team player whilst also holding the ability to work independently on own initiative

Minimum 3 years of experience in a Quantity Surveyor role.

Minimum 5 years of experience working in construction industry.

Full UK Driving Licence

Personal Qualities



Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Contractual knowledge and awareness.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
