Job Summary:
As a Quantity Surveyor at Pointer, you will work closely with Project Managers and the wider operations team to ensure robust commercial, contractual, and risk management processes are consistently applied across projects. You will take a hands-on approach to commercial control, cost analysis, subcontractor management, and financial reporting, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with our high-quality standards. Your work will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of secure, compliant, and financially successful fire and security systems across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide commercial and contractual advice to Project Managers and senior stakeholders.
Maintain accurate financial control systems and deliver monthly cost/value reconciliations.
Ensure valuations are maximised, submitted, certified, and paid within agreed timelines.
Monitor project progress and issue required contractual notices in line with procedures.
Review and evaluate subcontractor quotations, ensuring alignment with specifications and value for money.
Manage subcontractor accounts, ensuring accurate payments and performance tracking.
Conduct regular meetings to agree on project variations, avoiding late-stage disputes.
Support in the timely preparation and submission of quotations for additional works.
Attend project and client meetings, representing the commercial interests of the company.
Collaborate with the operational team to ensure contracts are delivered efficiently and profitably.
Qualifications and Skills:
Minimum HND in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent qualification).
Post-qualification experience in a Quantity Surveyor role.
Knowledge and practical experience of NEC contracts (essential).
Subcontractor or contractor-side experience (desirable).
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in financial control, reporting, and contract negotiation.
Full UK driving licence.
Must be eligible to work in the UK.
Experience:
Proven track record of supporting commercial delivery within construction or technical projects.
Experience managing cost and contract administration across multiple projects.
Familiarity with subcontractor procurement and account management.
Background in risk mitigation, cash flow management, and margin protection.
