Job Overview

Cortec are currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing project costs, ensuring that financial aspects of construction projects are meticulously planned and monitored. This position requires a strong understanding of cost control methodologies and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Ideally you would be based locally to our office with the ability to commute to sites/projects in the Region.

Responsibilities

Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Monitor project budgets and expenditures, implementing cost control measures as necessary. Conduct regular site visits to assess progress and ensure compliance with project specifications. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to costs. Manage variations. Prepare valuations. Maintain comprehensive records of all financial transactions related to projects. Provide regular reports on financial performance to management and stakeholders. Assist in the preparation of final accounts and settlement of contractual claims.

Skills

Strong knowledge of cost control principles and practices within the construction industry on both high-end residential and commercial projects. Strong contractual understanding. Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail. Proficient in using quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders. Understand Estimating processes. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. A minimum of 2 years experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
