We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing project costs, ensuring that projects are completed within budget and to the highest standards. This position requires a strong understanding of cost control methodologies and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Tendering & Pre-Construction



Lead the initial pricing and estimating process for all projects. Review and break down tender documents into structured cost packages in line withMarch Construction's framework. Prepare cost estimates, pricing sheets, and risk analyses to maximise profitability. Send pricing inquiries to suppliers and subcontractors for each package, ensuringcompetitive and accurate pricing. Convert external tender details into March Construction's internal language and coststructure. Collaborate with the Construction Manager, Contracts Manager, and ProjectManager during the tender process.

Contract Negotiation & Compliance



Lead contract negotiations to ensure favourable terms for March Construction. Define contract details, inclusions, exclusions, and qualifications to protect thecompany throughout the project. Stay up to date with industry regulations, including recent building safety laws andcompliance requirements. Ensure contract mechanisms for extensions of time, payment terms, and project risks are well-defined.

Project Execution & Financial Control



Oversee financial tracking of projects to ensure costs align with initial budgets. Provide real-time cost reports and project status updates for cash flow forecasting. Conduct monthly evaluations, ensuring client invoicing aligns with subcontractorpayments. Liaise with Contracts Manager to ensure that cost pricing and contract terms remainconsistent throughout the project. Identify and manage contract variations and cost changes, ensuring timely approvalsand documentation.

Procurement & Supplier Engagement



Oversee the procurement process in the early project phases, ensuring cost-effective supplier and subcontractor selection. Ensure seamless transition between procurement stages, from QS-led early-stage procurement to Construction Manager-led project execution. Work closely with suppliers, subcontractors, and package leads to secure competitive rates and contract terms.

Stakeholder & Team Collaboration



Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, including the Construction Manager, Contracts Manager, and Project Manager. Act as a key liaison between March Construction and the client's Quantity Surveyor or Contract Administrator. Work collaboratively with architects, engineers, and package leads to align cost control with project delivery.

The perfect candidate will be a sharp, commercially-minded QS who thrives in a small team environment. They must be able to work autonomously and take ownership of their projects.

Excellent (5 years+) Technical Knowledge: Must have a deep and practical understanding of

construction methods and materials. Scheduling from Drawings: A core requirement is the ability to independently produce a detailed and accurate schedule of works using only architectural and structural drawings. Proven QS Experience: Demonstrable track record across the full project lifecycle, including cost planning, procurement, subcontractor management, valuations, variations, and final accounts. Strong Communicator: Must be confident and professional in dealing with clients, subcontractors, and our internal team. Preparing initial cost plans and estimates. Developing detailed bills of quantities and schedules of work. Managing the tender process and subcontractor procurement. Overseeing all commercial aspects of live projects, including cost control, monthly valuations, and managing variations. Negotiating and agreeing final accounts with both clients and subcontractors.

Pay: 39,000.00-60,000.00 per year
