About the role
We're looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team and play a key role in delivering high-quality building and civil engineering projects. You'll be responsible for managing project costs, supporting procurement, and ensuring value for money while maintaining the highest standards. This is a great opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you'll also support and mentor junior team members.
What you'll be doing
As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll be involved in a wide range of commercial and project management activities, including:
Managing and valuing work in line with project specifications and procedures
Preparing estimates, bills of quantities, and schedules of rates
Supporting procurement and managing subcontractor relationships
Monitoring project costs and preparing cost reconciliation statements
Using ERP systems to track project performance
Reviewing and planning commercial activities to align with project programmes
Supporting stakeholder and customer engagement
Maintaining governance and compliance with internal systems and standards
Contributing to the development of junior team members
You'll also be expected to maintain a Personal Development Plan and work towards (or have already achieved) professional membership with RICS, ICES, or CIOB.
Who we're looking for
We're seeking a confident and capable Quantity Surveyor who has:
A BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent experience
Several years of experience in a similar role within construction or civil engineering
Strong analytical and commercial skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
A proactive, achievement-focused mindset
A good understanding of estimating, cost control, and procurement processes
Experience using ERP systems and interpreting technical drawings
Chartered status or active progression towards professional membership (RICS, ICES, CIOB) is highly desirable.
