Job Description

MCDR is a consultancy offering traditional quantity surveying services, as well as the more specialised services of surveyor-advocate and expert witness.

MCDR is looking to employ a quantity surveyor to be based in Northampton. The desired characteristics of the successful applicant include:

Degree in Quantity Surveying

Postgraduate degree in Construction Law (or an interest in Construction Law and willingness to undertake a postgraduate degree alongside full time work, which we will sponsor)

A few years of experience in the industry (although newly qualified talent is not ruled out)

Your primary role will be to assist our contractor clients. You will get the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects and gain a wealth of knowledge and experience. You will receive full supervision and mentoring from our senior team. Examples of duties include:

Contracts review and negotiation

Value and submit applications for payment

Assess applications for payment from sub-contractors and issue payment notices

Issue contractual notices for events affecting cost and time

Price and substantiate variations and loss & expense claims

Assess and substantiate extension of time claims

Negotiate final accounts

Project correspondence management

Liaise with Client project teams and undertake site visits as required to perform your tasks

In time, assist on more complex matters such as formal dispute resolution
