We are recruiting on behalf of a nationwide construction firm delivering high-quality residential and commercial projects across both the private and public sectors. Due to continued growth and the award of a new 12m new-build project in North London, we are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team.
You will work closely with the Commercial Director, Contracts Manager, and project teams to ensure the effective commercial management of fast-paced, high-quality construction projects.
Role Requirements
Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor on Design & Build new-build project.
Strong working knowledge of JCT Design & Build contracts and associated commercial processes
Excellent understanding of construction methods, procurement routes, and key cost drivers
Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, and technical documentation
Skilled in preparing, managing, and analysing cost plans, valuations, and final accounts
Experience procuring subcontractors, preparing tender packages, analysing returns, and negotiating appointments
Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, forecast cost-to-complete, and monitor expenditure
Able to identify, value, and agree variations, ensuring accurate and timely submission
Confident preparing and presenting commercial reports to senior management and key stakeholders
Able to maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams
Experience assisting the Pre-Construction team with cost planning, tender support, and project proposals
Understanding of risk management principles, with the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks
Familiarity with producing accurate monthly CVRs, cashflows, and commercial summaries

Strong work ethic, demonstrating integrity and fairness in all commercial dealings
Highly motivated with a proactive, problem-solving approach
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Exceptional attention to detail with strong numerical and analytical ability
Highly organised and able to work to tight deadlines across multiple projects
Strong report-writing ability, able to present commercial information clearly and professionally
Proficient in Excel, Word, and Windows OS
Experience with ASTA software beneficial
Methodical, conscientious, and collaborative in approach
Represents the company professionally with clients and external stakeholders at all times
Qualifications/Requirements:
Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent relevant qualification
Minimum 4 years' experience in a similar role
SMSTS and CSCS (advantageous but not essential depending on requirements)
Full UK driving licence
Strong understanding of contractual obligations, cost control processes, and commercial administration
