Role Purpose
As our Radio Engineer you would play a key role in delivering high-quality communication solutions by overseeing the technical operations of the workshop and supporting administrative functions that enable smooth service delivery. This role is central to the installation, maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair of radio communication systems and associated technologies.
The role involves configuring and programming radio units, setting up antenna systems, and ensuring optimal signal performance. It also includes providing on-site customer support, ensuring all work is completed safely, professionally, and in line with health and safety standards.
By maintaining technical excellence and operational efficiency, you would be vital in ensuring customer satisfaction and supporting the delivery of reliable, secure communication solutions.
Training will be provided to develop technical skills and ensure confidence in working with our systems and technologies, supporting both personal growth and service excellence.
Role Responsibilities
Repair, test and programme radios in the workshop, in the field and in vehicles, including portable radio equipment, mobile radios, base stations and ancillary radio equipment, providing customers with wiring diagrams and installation details when required.
Install and commission systems and antenna systems, designing and developing interface and audio units to suit customer requirements and liaising with manufacturers and the account manager to understand requirements to suit the customers' needs and operation.
Provide first line support and attend callouts to customer's systems e.g., breakdowns / interference problems, which can include some out of hours working.
Complete relevant documentation, reports and assessments including customer site surveys, risk assessments, method statements, orders, stocktakes and installation and testing records.
Support the delivery of full service and solution suites across the company's product portfolio.
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing Leversedge customers.
Support Sales team to engage with potential customers to discuss their specific radio requirements and provide quotations for radio communication solutions.
Help promote a positive culture, helping team members and new starters when required.
Education and Skills/Qualifications
Good technical ability and knowledge, with experience in two-way radios and ideally telecommunications.
Full, clean UK driving license with the ability to travel within the UK to customer sites when required.
Qualifications or experience in any of the following disciplines is desirable: Computer science, computer/software engineering, electronic and communication engineering, electronic engineering, information technology, mathematics, mechatronics, physics, telecommunications.
