Band 7 -Radiographer - Chelsea Site



An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, caring and highly motivated therapy radiographer to work as a Band 7 team leader within the Pre-Treatment team. We are looking for a practitioner with an excellent technical background and pre-treatment experience at senior level. This role requires someone confident and experienced in advanced pre-treatment imaging and virtual simulation techniques including 4DCT, RGSC guided breath-hold techniques, SABR, SRS/T and VMAT. Knowledge and experience of cannulation and contrast administration is desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to achieve competency in all pre-treatment skills to ensure an efficient, high-quality service is provided to all patients throughout their pathway.



The ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of a team and will have exemplary communication and patient care skills. A key quality will be the ability to manage a complex workload, whilst providing strong leadership to a team of staff.



A large focus of the pre-treatment team moving forwards will be the use of multi-modality pre-treatment imaging, a key part of this role will be to work collaboratively with Radiology to develop skills in MRI, to provide cutting edge imaging techniques for radiotherapy planning.

When they are working as a Senior I clinical practitioner they will be responsible for the radiotherapy processes at and the operational management of a specialist highly complex radiotherapy work base, which may be a treatment unit, a CT scanner, a treatment preparation area or a project team such as for the digital transformation implementation.



They will supervise their immediate radiographic team to also include students, aides, and visitors on a rotational basis, ensuring that the practise of all results in the output and the radiotherapy processes at their work base being performed accurately and effectively.



The post-holder will liaise with medical, physics, nursing, clerical and support staff within the department and throughout the institution. The key working relationships will be with superintendent radiographers.

As clinical lead at the work base to be responsible for evidence based decision making within prescribed limits. Be competent to analyse and approve images following designated training and adhering to protocols.



Responsible for the accurate preparation, planning and delivery of treatment by self and by all members of the immediate team.



Set high standards of technical expertise, acting as role model to junior staff members. To be responsible for maintaining professional standards of self and other team members.



Responsible for the training of team members in the operation of all equipment safely and efficiently as per manufacturers' instructions, including local guidelines, under the guidance of superintendent radiographers.



Meet the regulatory responsibilities defined for an operator as delegated by the Trust under the IR(ME)R regulations. With appropriate experience may also be defined as a practitioner for concomitant exposures.



Make evidence based decisions within the prescribed scope of practice. Analysis and approval of planning and treatment verification images, following designated training and adhering to work instructions and protocols.



Be responsible for accurate record keeping and that information required for statistics are provided as required by self and team members.



Responsible for day to day and weekly quality assurance of equipment at the work base in accordance with ISO 9001 documentation, including fault reporting.



Participate in the ongoing audit and development of the department ISO 9001 quality assurance programme.
