We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Radiology Assistant to support the smooth and efficient running of our Radiology Department. Working alongside Radiographers, Radiologists, and other healthcare professionals, you will provide essential assistance in preparing patients for imaging procedures, maintaining equipment and clinical areas, and ensuring a high standard of patient care and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Greet, prepare, and assist patients attending imaging appointments, ensuring a calm and supportive environment.
Provide chaperoning for patients during procedures as required.
Work in a variety of imaging modalities, including ultrasound, MRI, CT, X-ray, fluoroscopy.
Assisting the Radiographers in maintaining an efficient daily work list, workflow of patients
Assist Radiologists in carrying out radiological examinations
Deal with service user queries and patient appointments using Radiology IT systems
Assist Radiographers and Radiologists in the safe handling and positioning of patients for imaging procedures.
Ensure all clinical areas are clean, stocked, and prepared for daily use in line with infection control standards.
Transport patients safely to and from the Radiology Department when needed.
Support administrative tasks such as completing patient documentation, updating records, and managing appointment lists.
Assist in monitoring and ordering stock and supplies to ensure availability for all imaging services.
Adhere to all health and safety, radiation protection, infection prevention and control, and safeguarding policies and procedures.
Maintain patient confidentiality and treat all individuals with dignity and respect.
Participate in departmental audits, quality improvement initiatives, and staff meetings as required.
Requirements
Essential:
NVQ Level 2 in a Health related subject
Previous experience in a healthcare setting (preferably in radiology or clinical support role)
Experience in ANTT procedures
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Compassionate, patient-focused approach
Good organisational and time-management skills
Basic IT and data entry skills
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
Desirable:
In date cannulation and venepuncture certification.
Previous experience assisting Imaging guided injections.
Manual handling and basic life support training
Experience working within a private healthcare setting
Knowledge of imaging modalities (e.g. MRI, CT, X-ray, Ultrasound)
