As we enter Control Period 7 (CP7), our Anglia Route Maintenance Team is delivering a major programme of infrastructure upgrades-from modernising signalling systems and enhancing station accessibility to improving safety at level crossings and supporting greener freight. We operate across three delivery units in Romford, Tottenham, and Ipswich, covering a wide range of disciplines including Track, Welding and Grinding, Off Track, Signalling & Telecoms (S&T), Electrification & Plant (E&P), and Distribution & Plant (D&P). Our Maintenance teams are responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of the network, ensuring that critical infrastructure-like signals, power supplies, tracks, and bridges-is safe, reliable, and performing at its best.

Brief Description
Manage and direct the Rail Management team in the inspection, testing and maintenance of rails and associated assets to Standards and within agreed resource levels.
About the role (External)
Key Accountabilities
Manage and direct the Rail Management team to achieve business and functional objectives and meet key performance measures.
Manage development of individuals and the engagement of the team.
Manage the arrangements for staff safety and competence.
Identify and implement asset performance, reliability, productivity and efficiency improvement initiatives.
Develop and agree inspection, testing and maintenance programmes.
Deliver inspection, testing and work in accordance with the agreed programme.
Manage the inspection, testing and maintenance of assets to standards.
Prioritise work arising and agree work plans.
Accurately update systems, databases and records as required.
Undertake technical inspections and investigations.
Undertake an agreed programme of staff surveillance, work quality and asset condition checks.
Essential
Relevant technical competence in rail management processes and techniques
Detailed knowledge of relevant standards and procedures
Knowledge of other functional disciplines
Knowledge of operational railway environment
Good interpersonal, influencing, communication and organisation skills
HNC/ HND or equivalent qualification
Desirable
Knowledge of coaching techniques

We follow a structured pay framework: Band 4C: 43,588 - 51,719
