Job Description

We are looking for a Rail Sentinel Coordinator to join the OCU Connect team.
The Rail Sentinel Coordinator is responsible for the management, compliance, and administration of Sentinel scheme requirements for all rail staff. If successful you will ensure all safety-critical and trackside workers are fully compliant with Network Rail and Sentinel regulations, including Sentinel card validity, training, medicals, and drug & alcohol testing.
You will also need to be able to:

  • Maintain and update the Sentinel database to ensure all personnel have valid and current competencies.
  • Schedule and coordinate medicals, drug & alcohol tests, and training courses in line with Network Rail standards.
  • Ensure all new starters are inducted and registered with Sentinel prior to track access.
  • Liaise with training providers, medical centres, and internal departments to manage compliance timelines.
  • Carry out periodic Sentinel audits and internal compliance checks.
  • Understand, brief and act upon any changes to standards and requirements in relation to the role.
  • Provide real-time support for compliance issues relating to Sentinel.
  • Manage PPE and ID assurance linked to Sentinel eligibility.
  • Submit fatigue and working hours reports in accordance with Network Rail guidelines.
  • Act as the point of contact for all Sentinel-related queries from internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Support investigations into any Sentinel or compliance breaches.
  • Issuing Track Visitor Permits.
  • Periodic reporting on based on KPI's.
  • General ad-hoc administrative tasks within the office environment.
To be successful in the role you will need to :
  • Previous experience in a rail or safety-critical compliance role (preferably within the Sentinel system).
  • Strong knowledge of Network Rail Sentinel Scheme Rules.
  • Proficient with Sentinel portal and associated compliance tools.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information confidentially.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
Desirable
  • Experience with Fatigue Management Systems.
  • Familiarity with RISQS requirements and audit standards.
