Job Overview



We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Rail Engineering Tutor/Assessor to deliver high-quality education and assessment for students pursuing Level 2 and potentially L3 qualifications in Rail Engineering Track.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Rail, with experience in teaching, mentoring, and assessing students in a further education or vocational training environment.

Overall Job Purpose:



To deliver the training, skills & knowledge development and assessment of learners including:

Plan and deliver effective learning programmes for diverse groups or individuals in a safe and inclusive environment both in the organisation usually on a college premise.

Motivate and inspire learners to promote achievement and develop their skills to enable progression;

Apply appropriate and fair methods of assessment and provide constructive and timely feedback to apprentices on progression and achievement

Key Responsibilities:



Working with Learners



Inspire, motivate and raise aspirations of learners through your enthusiasm and knowledge

Deliver training sessions to develop technical skills and knowledge being creative and innovative in selecting and adapting strategies to help learners.

Ensure individual learners learning needs are met through the provision, and monitoring of, agreed additional learning support

Assess learners performance in a timely manner using a range of methods that challenge and motivate students to achieve

Provide timely, constructive, verbal and written reviews and feedback

Manage and promote positive learner behaviours

Personal Organisation



Maintain accurate records of learner progress and achievements

Prepare and review lesson plans, schemes of work and teaching and learning materials using initial assessments and marked work to take into account the learners individual needs

Maintain accurate paper and electronic records of learning, assessment, employer and learner contact.

Professional Skills, Knowledge and Understanding

Maintain and update knowledge of your industry subject and sector specific practices

Promote provision to a range of stakeholders, coordinate and participate in promotional events, advertising programmes and services to generate new income

Promote by consistent example internally and externally the philosophy and responsibility for promoting equality and diversity.

Essential Requirements



Minimum 5 years' experience in Sector with a solid understanding of industry standards and practices

Assessor Qualification or willing to work towards - eg A1, TAQA, CAVA

Experience in teaching, tutoring at level 3 and 4 or willing to work towards

Familiarity with the requirements of relevant awarding bodies standards

Full UK Driving License, own transport and flexibility to travel is essential

Excellent communication and time management skills

Ability to prioritise and multi task to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner

Preferred but not essential



Internal Quality Assurance Qualification, TAQA Level 4, V1, D34, D36

A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed)

Experience in curriculum development and course design. Membership in a relevant professional body
Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check
