How you'll make a difference


Do you want experience supporting GOSH Charity's flagship mass participation event RBC Race for the Kids? If you are keen to be part of an events team, enjoy a variety of tasks, and want the opportunity to develop your organisation and communication skills, whilst supporting a worthwhile cause, this is the role for you.

We'd like you to offer your time to help us deliver an excellent events experience, going above and beyond for event participants and to help support on the day event volunteer recruitment. By joining the GOSH Charity team you'll help us to give the RBC Race for the Kids participants the best possible event experience, helping to boost fundraising to help build the new Children's Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

We are looking for an individual to join and support our amazing Owned Events & Products fundraising team. The Owned Events and Products team sits within GOSH Charity's Mass Participation Fundraising team and is responsible for organising and overseeing bespoke events to help raise money and awareness for the hospital.

What's involved?


Activities could include:
Supporting RBC Race for the Kids participants to have the best experience and encourage them to raise funds. Activities could be: for example:
Gift in Kind prospecting, helping us to source items that could be used on event day such as drinks and snacks for volunteers, items for goody bags or fundraising incentives
Supporting with good luck phone calls and sending thank you cards
Supporting with welcome phone calls to schools' stewardship, to thank them for registering
Offering fundraising support and answering event queries for top fundraisers
On the day volunteer support, which could include researching potential volunteer hubs and direct outreach to local groups and universities to help us recruit more event volunteers.
Event week support, which include help packing and assembling volunteer clipboards
Writing handwritten thank you cards to key event participants and suppliers post-event



What time should you offer?


We are looking for a volunteer who would ideally be able to help

2 days a week

for 10-12 weeks from

mid-July to mid-October.



Ideally, we're looking for a volunteer to join us two days per week, with one of those days being a Wednesday to coincide with our team day in the office. The second day is flexible and open to agreement. If you're unable to join us on a Wednesday, we are happy to discuss suitable days with the individual. We can also be flexible on hours if you prefer to have one longer day and one short day for example, depending on your requirements.

Able to confidently communicate with supporters, over email, phone and in-person Personable attitude and communication skills Able to use Microsoft office such as word and excel to do simple tasks such as writing copy and data sorting. An interest and enthusiasm in learning about events and/or fundraising Good time management skills, with the ability to work towards deadlines. Ability to manage a range of tasks, sometimes simultaneously Ability to research Ability to follow our policies and procedures to keep you, our staff and volunteers, our patients and our supporters safe Ability to represent GOSH Charity and our values positively. Aged 18 or over
